I'm not much into short scales but these are very tempting.

I love it!  I might have to have just one.  Man, cool little bass.  Much better styling than the mustang reissues.

If I hadn't resolved to cut down, I'd already have one.  ;)

Anyone found a place that has these?  The usual suspects don't have them as yet.

Harry's Guitar Shop had three of them on the wall today. Two had both P and J pups, the third had only a larger, G&L type pickup in the bridge position. I was more curious about that one but didn't get a chance to try it out.

So, I can now eat my words.  Who cares if I already have a dozen basses???

My favorite local store had a silver VM Jag with the P/J pickups at $169, plus 15% off on Memorial Day.  After noodling around on one for 20 minutes, I decided that for $144.50, it was too much to resist.  (And my birthday's June 11th, so I can rationalize it as a b'day present to me.)

Here's a stock photo of my new toy - my own pix will follow soon!  It's short scale and sounds really nice - plenty of depth.  With the tone up it's pretty bright, but with the tone knob rolled off halfway, not bad at all.  Very soon a set of labella or D'Addario flats will grace it.

LOVE that black headstock with the black pickguard!

We Geminis are entitled to decide one moment that we have enough basses, then change our minds in the next moment - right?  ;D

News flash - my wife and I agreed to make it my Father's Day present instead of b'day present.

Either way, I win.

Did more noodling last night - when comparing it to my Bronco which has a Gretsch 2202 TV Jones pickup, I can't say it has the same depth or output - but that means it's similar to most of my other basses.  That darn 2202 pickup is one hot puppy.

The Bronco:

i originally wanted a burst jag, and would love to have one to go with my heavily modded black one. (i wouldn't mind having a 'shorty' too). when i was looking for one, all i could find was black (which i dig) and hot rod red (which i don't).
here's a pic of mine as she sits now.

mods: one piece maple block/bound neck, dimarzio ultrajazz bass pickups with modded (radiused) pole pieces, EMG BTC (bass & treble peamp) running on 18V, USA AV RI bridge & knobs, CTS pots, switchraft jack, res-o-lite tuning keys, and all slide switches lowered 1/8".

all of the mods are explained here: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/Jaguar-Bass.html
