Whoa!
Are those really worth that kind of $$$ now?!
Don't get me wrong I love the one I have - I just had no idea they were fetching that kind of money.

That was my first reaction... RUN FOR THE EXIT!!!
Nice bass but I thought they same thing, more than I would pay.
It's gBase. Almost every guitar or bass I've seen there is priced higher than what a similar one has sold for on eBay. Sometimes way higher.
Ah yes,
The artificial inflation of gBase! ;)
The Grecos have sold pretty well over the past few years, but that's 'way high.
For the $$$ (not gBase but real selling price) Greco's are IMO the best Thunderbird out there.
Anyone save a pic of it to post....it's GONE!!
Apparenty, "YES" they DO sell for that much now...QUICKLY. :)
The IIs are very rare. I would have thought $1K was a fair price.

This one was also really clean. I have to second the Fraulein. I love my '77 II. It's a great sounding bird.
In the "classic" seller's pose...............My Sexy Thunderbird II, mine was $649.00 plus 3 day shipping $150.00. Great bass for the money. A big tip of the wig to George ( 69 Vette ) for clueing me into what great basses these are ;D

OK, I am sold... I will keep my eyes open for one of the Greco's.
Here's another Killer Bird:

Dammit Baz, why do you do that to me! I can't afford a new bass right now and that one is exactly what I'd want at a great price. :o
I know...Those Orville by Gibson are better than the standard Orvilles.

I need to shoot some better pics of the basses this year, anyway my Greco is bit beat up, but not badly so. One thing I'm a little less fond of about them is the mixture of chrome and nickel hardware and will be looking at ways to really clean mine up when it gets refinned, something that will hopefully happen later this year. If mine looks happy in this picture it's because it just ate a P- Bass as a snack, those of us that own this particular 'Bird know, it takes no prisoners!

And my Orville, this one came to me from Curt (DC10bass), it's so very cool in Surf green. I don't know whose two point is on it, not likely a Gibson part. It's a beautiful Thunderbird, I recently had the saddles notched on it so I could play it out live ( I downstroke hard enough to knock the strings off the saddles easily!) , and this past weekend used it both nights on a weekend trip. It's a wonderful player and as Baz says the pickups are really hot and produce great tone, lately I'm really enjoying this bass.
If anyone has a spare Orville TRC they'd like sell let me know!

Mark, I would leave the Gibson truss rod cover. It has the Old school bridge on it. I say if it had the 3 pointer, why not. But I would leave it. Carlo, I love your White Bird!!!
