This is a great deal for this set. I bought one just to use the E,A,D,and G strings for my bass. He has other deals on other brands as well. Not sure how they can offer such cheap prices on name brand strings.
I feel like shit. I just bought three sets from the remaining five. :-[
Hey, but I still left you 2 and it took me some self-restraint!!!!
Uwe
PS: I assume he had those sitting around for a while. Who on earth plays a 6-string bass tuned B to C with flats? ??? ??? ???
I did the same thing a few years back when I did the fretless project. I found a 6 string set of TI flats on Ebay going dirt cheap. I only needed the four. The gauge is light enough on these that I may pop for one of the remaining sets.
OK, I snagged the other two sets. (couldn't resist, what a screaming deal! Thanks for the tip). Gary, if you want one of the sets I'd be happy to send it to you, just let me know.
These must have been from a music store or distributor bankruptcy. Even though strings are high markup, that's below wholesale.
Sweet baby Jesus!
That was an amazing deal, I'm so sad for missing out on that. I'll have to start crusing the "strings" listings from now on.
I love TI flats, I have a set on my Yamaha BB400 and they are the perfect string for that bass. However, I put a set of Chromes on my SX Jazz and I have been so impressed with them that, unless I can find an unusually good deal on TIs, I'll be using them from now on.
TIs - not a string for all seasons and not for all basses, but one of a kind, especially those flatwounds - are a pain to get even in Germany. Their distribution system is all weird and nobody in their right mind stocks them. It is telling that I, living in a country closest to Austria, made my first acquaintance with those strings via Steve Barr in the old Pit. In hindsight, I'd say Steve was TI's "Avon Lady"! :)
I don't like 'em at all, but that was an amazing deal.

I'm good. Enjoy them! I probably have a spare set around here anyway.
anyone change thir mind i will take it...
I'm glad some of you got in on them. I very nearly bought 2 sets but I use R.Cocco stainless rounds on my 5 string. I'm going to use these on my old L-1000. (minus the B and C strings of course)

"Sorry, no foreign sales! For these prices it isn't worth my while doing the shipping quotes or filling out the customs forms."

Clifford Chance is an international law firm, dearest! We have offices everywhere, so I wrote to a buddy in our NYC office:

Frohes neues Jahr, Herr ..., I hope you are well and Massel won't leave you and your loved ones.
I have misappropriated your name and office address. You will shortly receive a small parcel from a P. T. in North Hollywood of all places. Knowing your obsession with security, please be assured:
- Herr T. is, to the best of my knowledge at least, neither a member of the Tea Party, the NRA or of an Islamist terrorist organization (just an ebay seller, which can be worse I know!),
- the package contains nothing involving juveniles or animals in consenting or non-consenting shape or form,
- contents are entirely kosher, three sets of (rare) bass strings for one of my precious instruments.
You are my Schatz and personal hero if you just send them on to me here in the office once they have arrived (and the CIA and Homeland Security have closed the investigation on you, of course).
Vielen lieben Dank!
Uwe

I am happy to be your "mule". I may want to try on the G strings before I send them over. But then again, I suppose they may chafe...
I then tried to disperse his concerns:

To alleviate your concerns about chafing: These will be so-called flat-wound strings with a smooth, even silky surface ...

Yet another post straight to the gutter.

A usual, Dave's instructions are a bit muddled. What he meant to say was I should warn my NY partner not to
insert anything
with the - ouch! -
ballends. Extraction could be painful. Even with flatwounds, I would imagine.
