Title: Sehr schöner IV Bass ...
Post by: uwe on April 25, 2008, 03:06:08 AM
Wow, that's the purdiest IV I've ever seen. I'm no fan of the "larvae Fender" shape of these basses, but it really benefits from that type of fin. Reasonably priced BIN (considering condition and rarity of fin) too. Even the case is a beauty and tightly form-fitted as a virgin's ... let's not stray from the subject!

I don't collect for finishes and I already have one IV and two Vs, so don't tempt me. But for everyone of you who ever entertained getting one of those ugly ducklings with its TBird sound qualities and modern day ergonomics (ugly, but comfortable), this is as goodlooking as they can possibly come. It really should come into the hands of a family member.

It isn't my piece of cake, but I kinda like the colour.

Yes, reminds me of the 20/20's color, the bass you loved so much at my office, but refused to be photographed with!

Yeah, I'm not as fond of the looks, but from every reports, they sound great.  Kind of reminds me of Fender's not so hot Performer bass.  Funky design that just didn't catch on in the market place.

Am I right in thinking that colour turns up more often on Victories? I've got used to the IV in red, if you're going to look weird you might as well be brash about it.

He's had some "interesting" feedback and I worry about people who do their auction descriptions in capitals.

I thought about the 20/20 today! It's very nice weather in Holland, I have plans to do a canoe trip and I can use it as a paddle.

But really: I was impressed by the sounds of the Zwanzig/Zwanzig.

The Vics came in what I describe as gun grey silver, this color seems to have more gold pigments, more the champagne color of the 20/20. IVs and Vs only came in three standard colors I believe: white (which yellows nicely), that garish lipstick red and a brownish natural.

What I like about this bronzish champagne is that it underlines the bass' "The Jetsons" esthetics.

I've seen one in this color before, about 3 or 4 years ago. It was NOS at an Austin music store which bought it from some small town music store that had gone out of business. Nice color but it was orange-peeled all over. Maybe from being in storage or in a case for years.

This one looks nice. BIN isn't a bargain but it's reasonable.

If that were a V I would be all over it! It looks really nice.
