Good thing its not one of the weak sounding black ceramamic ones. This is the real deal.

For our younger readers: John is being ironic    :o here by stating/quoting the reverse of the obvious truth. It's a literary means to get the real message across. It's like him saying "the Sherman was a better tank than the Panther".

I'd gut it and send it off to Seymor Duncan.  ;D

I have one of those in the bridge position on my BaCHbird.
Can't say I'm that impressed.
Rather thin sounding. Not punchy at all.

"Rather thin sounding" about sums it up.

Sure, of course the Panther was a pile of scrap metal without fuel ;) :P

I believe that's a King Tiger: even WORSE without gas! Hell, it was worse with gas too.

The Tiger II was an elegant if not lumbering piece of armor.  This is a Panther, the slimmed down version of the King Tiger:

The Germans learned a lot about tanks from the Russians, who used sloping armor on the T-34s. Up until then, nearly all the German tanks had nearly vertical front and side plates. Another big disadvantage German tanks had was narrow tracks which would allow the vehicle to sink into the mud, especially in the rainy season or after spring thaws in Russia.
The Tigers also had a weak point in that they didn't have much ground clearance so they would hang up more easily than many other tanks.

Favorite Tiger tank quotes:
"Tigers have one weak spot: it's ass. You have to hit it point blank and you have to hit it from behind".
"To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Tigers."
