I had one a long time ago.  Got it cheap though!

It's all clear to me now!  ;)

How much does that thing weigh?  Looks very cool!

It's pretty weighty!  I'd say in the 12 to 13 pound range.  The body is much thinner than I remembered.  Neck is nice and chunky and the tone is pretty nice.

That thing is crazy!!! It would be cool to take one with a clear body and etch the back of it with nifty designs.

It is a Renaissance SCB Bass. (Single cutaway bass?)  Needs a bit of wiring work (one of the toggles is disconnected) and some strap buttons but it is in pretty good shape.  Nice checking on the neck too.

One local dude who had an old Dan Armstrong guitar used to put Playboy pages face down on the back.

Thats  a rare bird ! I have only seen a few ! Maybe two cycled through the House of Guitars In Rochester NY back in the day, I worked there starting in '76. I know the whereabouts of one. The plexi was "smoked" on some as I recall.

BA1 bridge...?

It is the BA1 bridge.  The gold plating has worn off the bridge and the Grover tuners.  It has brass everything too.  All of the screws and metal plates and even the nut are brass.  The fingerboard is Ebony and it has a nice flame maple neck with a thin walnut strip down the center.  The one I had before was clear and I've seen one smoked plexi one.  I've only seen one black plexi version but it was the six string guitar.  It appears that the truss rod cover says "DPB" which may mean "Double Pickup Bass"?  Not too much info on these basses for sure.  Serial number puts it at May 1979.

Here's a pic of a smokey one I had saved from somewhere...

There was one on ebay several years back that I almost bid on.  I want to say it was opaque black, but might be wrong.  It went somewhere around 700 give or take.  Always liked the body shape.

Found a photo of a 1978 model that looks to be black plexi.
