Extra long scale??

For a guy who claims to know a lot about instruments, he sure doesn't provide much solid information.

Maybe his arms are broken and he can't use a tape measure.

Pretty bass, though.

Looks like a "doctored" Rivoli reissue to me.

Also no label inside f-hole.

That's what I was thinking too.  Rivoli-I with an added pickup, some headstock treatment, and a new paintjob.  The s/n looked like 2002 Epi, sans the factory code designator at the beginning.

Well this site says that s/n is Gibson Nashville, for what that's worth:

    http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx

Also - now that I look closer, the fholes have more defined points than an Epi... and the control layout doesn't jive either - unless they plugged holes and re-drilled, which seems like unnecessary work.

Did anyone else (besides Greco) make EB-2-ish clones?  They overall shape is really close - so not Korean Ibanez, etc...

Weird!!

Headstock shape is totally wrong...

Not a Gibson. May not be an Epi either. Wouldn't surprise me if it's a Chinese fake.

Whatever it is, IMHO the seller knows exactly what he has.

I'm pretty secure - there is a close up of a poor Gibson logo ("O" looks more like a "U")

academic really - went for $800

Looks like one of these illegal Chinese instruments. The large typefont of the serial number looks a lot like the typefont used on those ones.

But that doesn't say it's a bad instrument... 800 may be a bit steep. But it might very well be a good price for a very nice bass.
They just shouldnt have put the Gibsun logo on the headstock that's all.

It reminds me a lot of my BaCH EB2. That happens to be a monster bass 8) I am really deeply impressed by that bass. If that one would have been priced at 800 it would be worth every penny.

Don't worry. If BaCH ever builds a series of these monsters (I know they are seriously thinking about it) they won't be 800.

Well... projects like these tend to somewhat long winded with BaCH...

Well, I have to admit I did like the pickup config on that ebay bass!

Although, the original EB-2D is not bad at all with the choke bypass mod.  That really helped mine get some balls in the midrange.  Before, it was either too devoid of mids ("normal" mode), or too devoid of bass/low-mids (choked/baritone mode) - just no happy medium... and the placement of the bridge pickup didn't lend itself to filling the void.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with Rob that it's a counterfeit.

As for it being worth what someone is willing to pay, that's true if the product is as described. This one isn't.
