Title: New Schecter Toy!
Post by: Pilgrim on September 12, 2010, 03:04:25 PM
Just got back from big-o sale at my local music store...with a black Schecter C-4 XXX in a gig bag.  from some quick web searching, seems like the XXX model is called the "Stripper" model because it has abalone inlays of girls at the fret marker spots in the neck.

This thing is flat gorgeous!  Black all over, white binding on neck and body, 6-bolt neck, passive EMG pickups into an active EQ.  Controls are Vol/Vol and tone sweep for high and low.

Narrow fast neck, great balance, 8 pounds, 7 oz.

I'm liking this...but to balance the books I'm going to sell my Dano '63 re-issue and Aria Diamond bass that's a Mosrite look-alike.

I wish I'd had that bass 20 something years ago. Those girls on the neck are great! I've played a few Schecters and always found them to play really well.

I like these basses a lot.

I have a Hellraiser. mahogany body, maple top, laminated mahogany/walnut/rosewood neck through body.

has that great dark sound with a warm firm blur and plenty of punch.

Congrats on picking that one up, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Very nice bass! You will enjoy it. If you are light-handed, the girls on the fretboard will enjoy your fingering too...  ;D

I must confess that I didn't stress that particular feature to my wife.  8)

Okay... nice bass (played a Hellraiser once - only one of make tried) but what has it got to do with your surf band image...? California girls...? ;D

Somehow I doubt Annette Funicello was the inspiration for the girls ;)

I agree, because none of the girls are as "pneumatic" as Annette.....unfortunately.

True, it's not a typical surf bass - but it is wonderful to play.  I know that Schecters aren't that common, but I'm delighted to have found it.  But moving back to my surf band means I have an excuse not to sell the Dano and the Mosrite copy!  WOO-HOO!
