Title: BaCH TH-1 + Guitar Rig 4 = crunchy goodness!
Post by: gearHed289 on June 14, 2010, 10:14:16 PM
Man, I continue to be amazed at the sounds I'm getting with my Guitar Rig 4 plug-in. I'm a life long "gotta mic a tube amp" guy, but every time I fire this program up, I realize I don't need the amp for recording. This thing, with the Ampeg setting - which is laid out just like an SVT II/III/SVP - sounds so close to my actual amp, it is uncanny. Best direct bass tone I've ever achieved. I did a little audio clip to share. TH-1 through a Radial J48 DI into my Digi 003 control surface/interface. Ran a Waves CLA76 compressor plug-in both on the way in, and out. The only EQ is the "amp" settings on GR4. I posted it on http://www.myspace.com/tomheslin (http://www.myspace.com/tomheslin). Scroll all the way down to "TEST - TH-1-Guitar Rig 4".

Sounds great! I'm still blown away by the quality and sound of these little Czech basses we were able to get.

Fantastic Tom!
Good promotion for the BaCHbird.

I'll forward the link to my Czech friends.

Great tone, Nice riff!! Is that a stock TH-1?

Almost has a Ric tone to it, but a bit more overdriven.

It's not stock. I replaced the Artec with a late model TB+ which I peeled and stuffed into a 70s NOS chrome cover. Also changed the pots and output jack to CTS and Switchcraft, put one of Scott's pickguards on, chrome cap knobs, and a Hipshot D-tuner. Oh, and I put a strap button at the heel of the neck for better balance. AND a Gibson TRC. Great bass. Love the neck. They are such perfect starting points for customization.

I was shocked at how Ric sounding it is, but I get that a lot - "why does every bass you play sound like a Ric?" LOL! Shows how much of ones sound comes from individual style and attack.

Looks like I'm in good company.  I hear the same thing, and that was when I was using the Hamer Cruise exclusively.

Sounds fantastic. This makes me even more look forward to mod my coming TH-1 with a decent set of ChiSonic Humbuckers!  8)

Guitar Rig is great! And it has a free demo to test it too.

Those Chisonic Humbuckers are really close to TB humbuckers in Les Paul Standard basses. Really high output (as you know)

Exactly, I tried the CS Humbuckers in my Jazzbass instead of the CS Single Coils, and that was vĂ©ry promising for the result in a Gibson-style bass.  8)

Do you already have modded a bass with CS Humbuckers, as you know the sound?
