I notice that people at Talk Bass are still free to post such outragerous statements as:
"A buddy told me that if I have the body refinished that it will change the tone of the bass . . . opinions please ...".
:o :o :o
That's the nice thing about a "guided democracy" like here. Comrade Dave "Putin" Westheimer just wouldn't allow it.
-
You mean ideas like Nitro finishes let the guitar "breathe"?
Consider me part of the resistance... ;D
-
Science cannot be faulted, at least Dave's can't ...
-
I'm open to the possibility. Just show me the results of double blind ABX listening tests where a statistically significant number of people can tell the difference. 8) Wait.... you can't? Oh well then.... :P
What a deal. For $150 he might as well refin to his liking, or not at all.
-
Yeah, he stole it at that price!
-
Searching under my grandfathers bed, or in his closet starts to sound like a good idea.
-
Are you sure? :o
-
(hmm... I wonder If Uwe would get upset if I... no... best not think it...) ;)
$150...? wasn't that around the price for 2 pups and a scratch that was posted recently...?
-
I hate that guy. Guess $185 was too rich for his blood, had to haggle down to $150. Creep.
-
I paid $185 for my black RD Artist Bass back in 1998. That was at a Pawn Shop. Thing weighed 14 pounds it seemed!

Back when Nirvana's video for 'Heart Shaped Box' was in rotation on MTV, the Bass Place had a good condition ebony RD for $300. I got the impression that it had been priced a little "higher" cause of the video. I should have bought it, but I was in a different place gear-wise then. Also back around 96-97, they had a red T-bird for $700 that I really thought about buying. I still kick myself for passing on that one.
