Tonight we have a releaseparty of our new EP. We recorded it almost live on tapes in our own rehearsal bunker. So no overdubs, no ProTools or Logic and you can hear some little mistakes and so. But we like it.
You can har all the songs at www.boilersuit.nl
Go to 'Audio' and click on one of the songs. Sometimes it takes a little time for them to load.
All the songs are recorded with my '76 Thunderbird through an Orange AD200B and Orange 410 cab. Mic: Rode NT1. That's it. I used a heavy fuzzing Electro Harmonix English Muff'n for the bass part on Because She Cares.
I believe Basvarken is releasing his CD next week.
Thanks, Chris. I'm enjoying them with my morning coffee.
Very cool Chris! I just ordered me a copy!
Nice songs. Very Tasteful bass work Chris. Great singing as well.
Congrats Chris!
How was the gig/release party?
Nice job Chris, I enjoyed it!
A 70's bird never sounded better.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate that!
"She' s not that far" is my fav! Great sound! ;)
Like it
"can you forgive her" flows pretty nicely and is probably my favourite as a whole - but the bassline on shapes'n'sizes is pretty fun too - the kind of thing you look forward to playing
Very good!
Their must be something in the water over there, that allows bassists like Chris & Rob to be the focus of their songs and be up front in the mixes.
It's refreshing to me. Bass the way it should be, melodic, yet not overpowering or out of place, yet carries the songs.
Nice job guys.
I was worried at first - I got into the site, and it's all in Dutch. I took a leap of faith, and clicked on "Audio". I guess my Dutch is not so bad afterall! ;D
I love your fluidic basslines - that Thunderbird takes well to those slides high up in the ether. Very rich, complex tone. You are not helping my GAS for a Bicentenniel!
Great job!
Needless to say I got a "review copy" free last week, so eat your hearts out! Will listen to it tonight (after finishing the Grand Funk Live CD which still has me marvelling at its unabashed rawness).

Just to alert anyone who didn't see this at DP3 (and to remind those who did), check out the YouTube video of "She's Not That Far" http://youtube.com/watch?v=zw0VEcm2IlE
As Chris explained, the Rick 4005 is for show only, he was playing the T-bird on the recording.

I'm telling Daniel on you!
I finally found GFR'S last effort, Good Singing Good Playing. It's actually a really good CD!
Zappa did some fantastic GUITAR WORK ON IT.

Heard the stuff now and I must say, Herr Dekker, your playing has become very lyrical, a poet on bass! You weren't nearly as fluid on the first Boilersuit recordings.
The downsizing has done the band good, I really like the sparse guitar and the freedom it gives the bass and the beautiful clarity of (soon to be?) Frau Dekker's vocals. Reminds me a bit of the shortlived German band Rainbirds in fact:

Thanks Uwe! Nice:)
The Rainbirds you say? Reminds me of a gig some years ago. We did the support of a Welshman with a famous father living in Holland and we also did some songs with him on stage. He's kinda strange and had not only some terrible moodswings but also a drinking problem. Needless to say we don't play with him anymore.
When we arrived at this venue in Holland, where he arranged a gig, everybody talked English to us. So we talked back like that, thinking it was a foreign crew or something. Amsterdam is almost an English speaking town, but this was Zwolle. After a while we discovered we were billed as 'The Sundogs (UK)'. probably this Welsh guy promised an English backing band. We immediately new the reason why they talked English to us. I remember the faces of the guys when we started to talk Dutch among eachother. So maybe we sound like the rainbirds, but we did a gig as The Sundogs. Our old guitarist still has the live DVD of that gig with 'The Sundogs (UK)' on the sleeve!

Sundogs huh?
Sounds warm & cuddly

Love that pic!
Gibson Barker. Could be a Ripper/Grabber sister.
