been working on this on and off for 18 months or so, but it's finally completed. it needed a re-fret and I decided to get it refinned (semi-gloss nitro) as well. also rewired it with a 3-way toggle, 2 vol, 2 tone and got a tort guard from Roger (Jeannie's Pickguards). sounds much better than the original circuit to my ears, it's much brighter and has a bit more range as well.

Ooooooooohhhhh, shiny...(http://www.loserville.net/smf/Smileys/default/devilfinger.gif)
Very sharp! these basses are starting to grow on me. this one sure turned out nice.
That's pretty sweet! Tort pg looks great!
That's looking really nice, the tort pickguard is perfect!
I applaud how you did away with that silly varitone and the useless mid freq control! Love the toggle on the tort and the 4 controls.
Beautiful!
Typical those hybrid Gibsons we've seen lately.
Wonder what took "us" so long.
Good job! That tortoise guard goes well with the natural fin.
That came out beautiful ! The tort guard it the look for that bass.
thanks for the comments, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I like to solo the neck pickup quite a bit, so I had to modify the wiring to accomodate that. plus I couldn't see the value of having a choke in the circuit (anybody need one?); these pups are not mudbuckers by any stretch.
it's a bright sounding bass, so I may play around with some different cap values.
the bridge cover is the final hurdle. the unchromed ones from ebay turned out to be 1/8" taller than a few others that I have and they don't look quite right on the bass. 1/8" doesn't sound like much but it's huge when you're used to the shorter specimen.
I can't wait to hear it at practice.
I really like the Torte guard on it.
Drooool! Very nice indeed!
And I'm sure someone will want you old choke.
And I'm sure someone will want you old choke
somebody was looking for one recently but I don't remember who.
