They should give Baretta's bird a call. Stop that seagull in his tracks.

Nothing screams 70s quite like J.L. Seagull. I can't imagine it being a success today. Come to think of it, I never understood its success back then.

You think? Nature flics still have their place, if anything the last ten years have seen a resurgence.

Oooo... it's on DVD, man...

Gull-iver's travels, man...

I remember this gull some time back on our news channels...  ;D

I quite like JLS (kinda says it all, really)

I like Neil Diamond   :o :o :o  :gay:(that new live album is touching in its intensity and I like the way his voice has worn with age). There, I (am, I) said it. And ordered Barbara Streisand's new CD. Not to mention my Barry Manilow anthology.

Neil Diamond has always done pleasant pop and he's a good entertainer. I don't think his voice has aged well but he gives the audience what they want.

Streisand is revolting, as a performer and a human being.  :puke:

It was the Neil Diamond soundtrack.  :)

I read JLS and then another one of Richard Bach's books, which described him doing astral projection and all sorts of other crazy stuff. I was around 22 at the time and remember wondering whether he expected his reader to take it seriously or not. I was certainly not a child of that 60s/70s...

Dave, I hope you will take it the right way when I tell you I love you, man...  Best line I've read online in ages.

I love Neil Diamond's Brill Building stuff up through the mid 70's or so. Not a big fan of a whole lot since then but that early stuff is great to me.

He's certainly responsible for some classic melodies...

I remember seeing Neil Diamond in concert at my alma mater in the early 70's...he did a great show.

I figure - anyone who has maintained popularity for 30+ years in music and showbiz is worthy of respect.  Not many artists achieve that.

Streisand seems to provoke some emotion here whenever she is mentioned (mostly by me). Political convictions (the dreaded L-word!) and distaste for a perceived elitist West Coast glam lifestyle aside, do you really think her voice can't carry a song?  ???

(Im)Balanced judgements über Frau Streisand aside, Neil's voice on the recent Rick Rubin produced stuff is nice. He shouldn't be measured against how he sang Sweet Caroline as a young man (and not thirty years later at the end of a two hour concert as a sing-along).

No, I won't click on one of her videos. I just hate that overemotive crap she does. I never could stand that.

I decided she was a POS personally way back when I heard her do a version of If You Could Read My Mind that mocked Gordon Lightfoot's phrasing. Her sense of entitlement was always bad enough, that showed me what contempt she has for her peers.

It had nothing to do with politics. She's just an obnoxious turdhead.

Count me among the Streisand fans.  Seagulls, not so much.

I like the way Dave is featherlight and gentle in his judgement, always willing to give the benefit of doubt.  :)

Dittos, here too!  When you get right down to it just not a nice person - in comparison - Leona Helmsly would look like Mrs. Cleaver ;D

I wish Dave would just come right out and state his point clearly!  ;D

Barb S = Meh!  :bored:

Neil Diamond on the other hand was great live back in 77. I've also read about 5 Richard Bach books, good fun with a bit of common sense philosophy combined with taking acid.
