Are you sure that's a real SD Curlee body? looks like a Curlee neck on a homemade body to me.

Dave, that's what I thought, the seller says it is original but I doubt it. Still kinda cool if I can get it cheap. I like the LP Jr looking double cutaway body better.

I would offer whatever you think the neck is worth.

that's an orginal SD curlee body indeed. See them ones or twive on ebay. One time pretty funny they had a picture of a bass with the same body style an besides that a picture of an japanese sumowrestler perfectly the same.

There were some Japanese-made Curlees toward the end of the company's existence. Could this be one of those then?

Cool! I always like twin P pick ups, like on some active 80s Precisions and on the Buzzard and Stryker.

Find some pictures in my personal archive.

I think it's but ugly but because of that I like it. I have an simple standart one bass from SD Curlee.

I think the bass in de topic starters post is an USA made bass the japanese bassen (made by hondo) have an other heastock decal most of the times.

Scott, if you buy it, you'll just have to repaint it in a Sumo theme.  :)

Well, I gotta say, $150 isn't bad for the bass and case.  But man, it is kinda....well...weird looking!?!  Maybe it would grow on me if I saw it in person in a different color.  That yellow really sucks!

That would work great for vintage sound, especially with the loincloth serving as a mute. :o

The sumo wrestler in the picture is actually American! It's Musashimaru (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musashimaru_K%C5%8Dy%C5%8D) who was from Hawai'i and attained the highest rank of yokozuna.

Och aye... but look at the small print, Scott...

Yep, it's Manchester... but not Cheshire, England... it's New Hampshire USofA...!

That could even be called "reasonable driving distance" from you, right...?

Ken I bid on it but lost while chatting with my wife in the last seconds about upping my bid. Went for 5 bucks over my last bid, man I hate that.

But you didn't necessarily lose it by only $5. The winner's already-entered maximum bid could have been $100 above yours. You never know.

Keep searching, Scott, Keep searching... It's that positive thinking thing...  ;D

I remember bidding on a CDROM of all the census's from 1841 to 1891, for the Outer Hebrides in Scotland, (which was not Kosher) and got into a bidding war which took it over £100 (about $200 at the time) when I had set myself a limit of £35, and won it - first time it went up and I did not expect to see it again... but I saw it up a few more times and the person I bid against got it for under £50, but it also failed to sell for £10 - the seller did give me access to a whole lot of other genealogical debris, for free (?) though and was also quite helpful with my research...

eBay is a minefield - if you come up against 2 people wanting the same item... I sold a Zep autograph on a roadies party ticket for £368 ($700 approx at the time) because it DID NOT have Bonham, but DID have Cozy Powell and Grant, with supporting gibberish - it was a piece of card 5x3", for gawds sake - I could have sold it for much more but I closed out bids from outside the UK - turned out the buyer lived locally and I hand delivered... phew... never expected it to go for much... biggest sale I ever had...
