Title: Custom Thunderbird on eBay
Post by: bassvirtuoso on March 14, 2009, 01:27:35 AM
They sure did make a lot of these "custom" Thunderbirds huh?

I contacted the seller, let's see what he says.  ;D

Amazing how these customs go for $45 more than a stock one:

Wow, so the Studio is really a signature, wow! Maybe that name-bassist who bought it believed it himself:) Maybe Gibson told him...

My eyes about popped out of my head when I saw the BIN price, as pointed out you can buy these brand new at Musicians Friend for $1.154.00. I just emailed the guy the MF price lets see what he does.

Here's the response I received:

"Dear bassvirtuoso,

Thanks for the info. I was going by what the owner told us, but will research the matter. I did notice the knobs are different but can't really tell about the pickups.

"

I wonder if they got ripped off... :-\

"We did notice that the knobs are available through Allparts for a couple of bucks..."

Yeah, I'd say they got told a tall tale, and paid for it.

Not even the knobs are different, it is an off the rack Studio, nothing more, nothing less.

They've revised the auction header and lowered the BIN and starting bid. Good for them. Hope they don't lose too much.
