Title: From BrianMay.com
Post by: lowend1 on March 09, 2009, 06:10:10 PM
This probably should be in "Other Brands", but will be of obvious interest here...

I'M interested!

That thing looks good enough to eat! Certainly when compared to what other brands brought out while working with the same concept.

I mean come on, you can't take something like this seriously. It looks horrible.

I had the Dillion version of the BMB (Brian May Bass). It was a nice little bass, and I enjoyed the tonal options from the switches, but the pickups were too close together IMO. They should have been more spread out, not all jammed at the neck. I ended up trading it to The Dude for a down payment on a Lakland.

Is that a real mudbucker? I'm not saying that would be better or worse than a faux mudbucker (as on the current SG Bass), but I can't imagine anyone would make a decision without knowing what's under that cover.

Now that i have howled, I dont like the controls(knobs). I certainly dont like the VBMB 04 with all the switches etc and the bunched up pups. I do like the shape  and layout of the  bass  from a concept standpoint. the pups can be changed, but thats just me.

New knobs and a Darkstar would fix that up just fine.

It looks great but with a guitar upper horn and a bass neck, even if it's 30" scale I'd expect neck dive.

I'm way too much of a simpleton for numerous knobs and switches. On an amp or mixing board I'm OK, but on a bass I like it simple. Nothing but that one that makes it louder and that other one that does something else ??? ;)

And nice to see it has Gibson and Burns pick ups and a Gibson bridge. It could have had Split Ps...
