Poor ol' Guild.
-
It's rare to find anything from Guild's Kalamazoo factory. ;D
-
Speaking about ugly.
No wonder why it hasn't gone in production (I doubt if that story is true).
It looks like somebody was very creative with a saw on a Rickenbacker.

Prototype? My ass!

:puke:

I'm not sure what the body is. Has elements of a Rick but also of a Guild B302. Has a pre-B302 Guild bridge. Not a real Rick, not with rear mounted controls. May be some oddball Japanese bass.

It is not a design.
It is an accident.
A bad accident...

if you look at the back of it on picture 3. It looks like remarkly simular to a guild bass. I guess its an very beat up vut down old guild bass guitar. Is has an old guild neck, a bguild bridge and gibson pups so it could be intresting.

FUGLY!

Who doesn't love a good riddle?
I am kind of dumbfounded. It is a Guild neck, and an old Guild bridge. The back of the body looks like it was a 301/302, but the front looks like someone wanted a Rick. Nothing is that close up, and not a good pic of the headstock face either, so it is hard to tell. I suspect someone gutted a 72 EB3 though.
I love the Guild Kalamazoo factory line. That is a new classic. I never get tired of the Fenders and Gibsons that show up with the rare factory refin. Ah, the good ole days, when Gibson made as much money refinishing guitars for bored owners as the did making new ones! What times they were. But when there is not thread of reality at all, that is something special. Fantastic!
