It may look like a 70's Jazz but it doesn't sound like one.
I agree it does'nt sound particularly like a 70's Jazz. It is hit pretty hard with neck pickup soloed so that's the P-bass territory of the Jazz Bass. You can't hear the 70's positioned bridge pickup at all. That can contribute to an extent but probably does'nt explain it all.

these are based on early 70s Jazz basses, alder body this one was pretty light maybe 8.5 pounds. QC is top notch.
