For all the Spotify members. The '79 live album Gigs by Sweet d'Buster is available now.
Bass player Herman Deinum plays with a P, steel rounds and a Marshall stack, but it are his bass parts. Check the song Manja which is like one long bass solo with a bass solo in the end. Gorgeous. The whole album is a bass masterclass and the overall vibe is pop/rock meets prog.
Band leader, singerm and saxophone player is Bertus Borgers. He played on a lot of Herman Brood & His Wild Romance albums and he toured the US woth the Golden Earring.
And it goes to proof that you can groove like crazy while playing with a pick!
Herman Deinum is an amazing bass player. He should be world famous.
But maybe its better he's not, so we can have him all for ourselves Chris ;-)

Thanks for this - listening now! Never heard of them. Dug around a little - found a Wikipedia article - but it's in Dutch! I did find a good review of the album on Discogs though. (https://www.discogs.com/master/827832-Sweet-dBuster-Gigs) Gotta scroll down - best part for me was:
I remember bassplayer Herman Deinum's cool act on stage. Almost like a statue showing virtuosity on the instrument. He could have been John Entwistle's twin brother.
That helped me visualize the performance a little more...
This is tight! I have full respect for P Bass players who keep the covers on. Sounds like picking nearer the bridge suits his playing style.
Here's the link to the entire concert. The first song (Bread) starts with a great bass riff too!
