Title: GIBBY Long scale bass replacement truss rod recommendaions
Post by: shadowcastaz on January 21, 2025, 10:36:59 AM
I have to replace a broken truss rod in a Gibby Bass. Before I pry is there a recommendation using OEM or one of the double TR's or titanium. Thank you.M

AFAIK Gibson doesn't offer OEM replacements for bass. Wouldn't hurt to ask. Stew-Mac offers a Traditional Truss Rod Kit (https://www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/materials/truss-rods/adjustable-truss-rods/traditional-truss-rod-kit/)

I don't know of any double truss rods that would fit without modification.

Since you need to remove the fretboard you can choose whichever truss rod you like. But like Dave points out; it may involve some modification to the slot.

Have you given thought to the Stew Mac truss rod rescue kit? It's a very simple procedure that works great on Gibson truss rods.
