Title: My only non-Gibson bass...
Post by: ajkula66 on December 15, 2024, 06:03:57 PM
My only non-Gibson bass...a '76 Guild JS-2. Stock apart from Hipshot bridge. Sounds and plays lovely but doesn't see much action these days being on a long-term loan to a good friend...

For reasons that are utterly unclear to me, I just can't see myself letting it go although I'm in the process of extended downsizing when it comes to gear...

I had one for a couple of years, just couldn't bond with it and the balance was terrible. The buyer was happy to get it, though.

I miss my black '73. It wasn't getting used much, so I regrettably sold it. I should be downsizing too, but I haven't started yet!

I had a Guild M-85 II for a while, which is basically the same bass except for the shape. It had the same pickups and the same controls.
Took me quite a while to find one. But when I finally had it I was disappointed.
It looked much more rock n roll than it sounded.  :o

The biggest flaw of this bass, IMO.

Sonically, it does the "angry Jazz Bass" better than most FSOs, at least when I play it...

I have - sort of - but am lacking buyers for the most part... ;D
