Title: Ric knockoff "tear down"
Post by: Ken on December 08, 2024, 10:18:25 PM
I thought this was quite funny. The part with the truss rod had me laughing out loud for some reason.

I think he felt provoked by the foreign product's inability to fulfill his expectations. Very poor anger management. Buy American.

My name is John Hall and I support this message.

Stupid moron shouldn't have bought it in the first place.

I'm sure it was crap but at the same time I'm not 100% sure that he would have been happy with a real Ric 12-string. The exploding R tailpiece, the impossible string change both at the tailpiece end where they fall off and in the genius-yet-total-nightmare headstock, the tight string spacing, the octave strings UNDER the standard ones, the 6-saddle bridge, the non-height-adjustable pickups – all real Ric features.

It's a satirical way to destroy a counterfeit guitar...you know, for "clicks".

It would have been more educational had he shown what needs to be done to get it to work and sound decent if never as good as the real thing.

But I agree with Ilan, a Ric 12-string is an unapologetically idiosyncratic instrument which you buy for its one-trick-pony-sound accepting all mannerisms and not for flexibility or to play anything beyond the, say, seventh fret. It doesn't really compete with or compare to other electric guitars, kind of like buying an electric sitar.

Well he certainly won't get mine.
I had never heard of him. And after seeing about 60 seconds of this video I will not likely view any of his other videos

Rob is the Mark Rutte of this forum. Always serious-faced, somber and direct (all Dutch traits combined!).
