And I thought Dave had belatedly discovered the Planet of the Apes franchise!

Meanwhile, Axl has been busy.

Axl Rose settles sexual assault lawsuit with former model as singer continues to deny allegations (https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/axl-rose-settles-sexual-assault-lawsuit-former-model-singer-continues-deny-allegations)

New York retroactively extending the statute of limitations was outrageous, and this woman popped up on the very last day to file. I'm no Axl fan but in this case, I don't believe her.

Sure, I conveniently settle lawsuits with women who sue me for non-consensual sex all the time, don't you? Edith picks their statements of claim from the mail without opening and says "oh, another one that wants to drag you down, honey, send her some money to go away, though I'm sure you didn't do anything this time either".

How they all lie all the time everywhere. It's a plague.

"In this case, I don't believe her." Not just in this one, Dave, I can't remember a single case that popped up here where you have given the woman even the benefit of doubt. All scenarios are populated by innocent men and money-grifting women. Through sheer luck, I have so far somehow escaped them.

Poor Axl, the Pope Innocent of cock/rock.

Nuisance claims and lawsuits like this are settled all the time just to make the person go away. You're being deliberately obtuse if you think otherwise.

In the case of the retroactive New York law, you're right, I don't believe anyone who didn't come forward during the original statute of limitations.

I can't really imagine a situation where I would settle with a woman claiming that I sexually molested her if I hadn't actually done so or at the very least co-created a situation where she might think so. In 64 years that accusation has never been raised against me, not privately, not professionally. OTOH, I've known people in my professional career where assertions like that would come up again and again with the 'usual suspects', every organization has them (not that 'usual suspects' cannot be innocent too). Does make you wonder how likely it is to be falsely accused. Or maybe it's my low testosterone levels, I've always suspected those! 😂

In Germany, if you measure the likelihood of the truthfulness of a claim based on whether it was filed in the last second of an expiring statute of limitation or not, that consideration alone could get you thrown off a bench as a judge for bias. It's the nature of time bars that you can exploit and exhaust them until the very last second, with no detrimental effect to your claim either legally or factually.
