Whoa! Now there's something special. I could have picked up a 4002 cheaply some years back but figured with my 4001 I had all the Ric I'd need. I was an idiot.
An old friend had a fretless 4002.
That's not a vintage 4002, but a recent factory built salute. The positioning of the pickups, pickguard, and black-bordered checker binding are like the original, but the low-impedence feature is absent, as is the 21st fret and bound headstock. I think this was one of a small batch made. Beautiful!

The pickguard and nameplate are Black. Why not Black binding?

The binding is checkerboard with an outer strip of black binding. Just like the original 4002's.
