Found an SG bass for a good price , and couldn't help myself . I've come to seriously love my DC Jr . The bass is almost like new , the truss rod nut is slightly worn down though , but it should be easy to find a new nut and replace it . Previous owner had the nose down on the bridge , but there's no lifting . I've reset it . The neck is somewhat chunkier than the Jr , but comfortable . Not crazy about the strings that are on it , I'm going to order some Gibson Brites and try those for a while . I trust they were the strings that came on my Jr . It might well wind up with some LaBella flats eventually .
First impressions are good , I think I'm going to like it .

Congrats. Enjoy your new bass. :toast:
I had so many opportunities to buy EBOs and EB3s back in the days when they could be bought cheap . But I was just another Fender Pbass guy that looked down on short scales , and Gibson basses . Suddenly the word "vintage" came into use and prices skyrocketed . Now I'd love to find a red EB3 in nice shape .
I've had my eyes open for a while looking for a local sale , there are more modern SG basses around , but it seems they rarely come up for sale around here . I wanted a red one . There's a ton of Epi EB3s that are getting flipped , but I wanted to hold out for an American made Gibson . I have an Epi V and a Woody . Both nice basses .
It was an on again off again seller . We settled on a price , then he decided he wasn't going to sell but we eventually made the deal for the agreed price . When we met in person he was very agreeable .
I've spent a good number of hours on it today . The joy of retirement . Strings are old , so I'll change them . I'm used to playing different basses so I don't judge things from a single perspective . I like it , and think I'll come to like it even more as I get more time on it .
For some reason She's Not There by the Zombies struck me as an EB3 song so I listened to that and got the lines . This SG seems to be a nice take on the classic . I do wish the bevel on the horns was cut deeper though .
Great choice! I used to think I had to have a bass with dot inlays until I got one of those. That's not necessarily so.
Congrats!

I used to swear that I preferred a rosewood fingerboard . Then one day I realized the three basses I played the most all had maple fingerboards and I stopped being so vocal about what I thought I liked .
Most of the basses I'm playing today are rosewood again .
Congrats - cool score.
You're right to come back to rosewood ;P (I have a dislike for maple boards)
Rosewood fingerboards are erotic art, maple fingerboards hardcore heavy-duty porn. That is the difference.
The truss rod nut was slightly stripped so I put on a new one , and put on a lighter set of strings for the time being . Ordered some Gibson Brite Wires for it . Got it dialed in to my preferences . I like it . Neck is slightly bigger than my Jr , it weighs a bit more , and has slight neck dive . It's fine as long as I rest my forearm on the body .
I'm going to enjoy this bass .
Kinda perplexed why a bass that shows so little use would have a truss nut chewed up . No dings , scratches , or signs of abuse , frets look brand new .
