I guess we're not much of a jazz rock forum, much less a pure jazz forum here, or someone would have put this up earlier. I don't profess to be a jazz rock buff, I have the usual crossover suspects in my CD collection (the kind of stuff you tend to have even if otherwise you prefer listening to Black Sabbath  ): Miles Davis, Mahavishnu, Return to Forever, Billy Cobham, Hancock, Alphonso Mouzon, Jaco, Weather Report, Jean-Luc Ponty, Colosseum (I + II), Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola, George Benson etc.
But I always liked his liquid playing. And coming from a hard rock background, I found it easier to latch onto RTF's macho instrumental prowess than to, say, the more airy Weather Report.

Rest in keys.
I saw him somewhere around '81/82...excellent performance. Most of his music was not my cup of tea, but he was a great innovator for sure.
RIP.
You only posted something so that I (and Chick) wouldn't feel so bad, danke.
I know what the others are thinking: Chic? From Korea?

LOL.
I guess that we should remember that Stanley Clarke played an EB-2 in the early days so it all fits in to this forum's niche... 8)

Cut my teeth listening to Stanley...
Chick was a truly stunning instrumentalist... rip

Agreed, RTF was great! Rip chick.
Light as a feather was/is one of my favorites. Chick was one of the all time greats. RIP. There's so much one could post of his. This is a particularly great concert and shows the versatility of GK amps through the hands of Christian McBride.

Chick was a great composer and amazing keyboardist. I didn't follow his solo stuff that much, but loved Return to Forever (along with Stanley and Al solo stuff). Romantic Warrior got a lot of spins in my room in my late teens. He was a mentor to a lot of great rising talent throughout the years. He will be missed.
