Title: A slightly optimistic estimate of value
Post by: Dave W on February 10, 2021, 12:11:55 AM
Customs agents seize $158k worth of counterfeit guitars, including fake Gibsons, Fenders and Martins, at Washington DC airport (https://www.guitarworld.com/news/customs-agents-seize-dollar158k-worth-of-counterfeit-guitars-including-fake-gibsons-fenders-and-martins-at-washington-dc-airport)

$158K would be the value if they were real.

Actual cash value of 36 Chinese fakes: about $1000.

They did relatively well on the Gib-Sun headstock, but "Fendel" and "Maltin" - alas! - gave them away. They didn't even attempt "Lickenbackel".

They were almost successful too, if it hadn't been for that gletsch in the customs declaration ...

I bet that's an actual word in Germany!
