That's pretty damned special...bravo!
That sound is a pure Cry Of Love!
That's a real beast you've created. Nice job once again.
Rob, which pickups are those? It's amazing that believe it or not, it sounds incredibly similar to my 2013 Gibson Thunderbird with the stock TB+ pickups, SIT Power Steel strings, though GK amps and my Damnation Audio MBD-1 on low gain.
I've never had much interest in Flying V's, guitar or bass models. Don't get me wrong, I like them as a fun novelty but I have never considered owning one, but man, this thing is perfect, Kudos!
That came out great, Rob! :toast:
Thank you guys.

Those are EY Parts pickups.
That bass is awesome!!
Your builds and vision are just beautiful! I enjoy watching your builds progress and develop. You have a innate ability to combine the exsisting elements of older designs with new features and your own unique ideas and craft them into fine instuments and works of art. Bravo Rob.
Thank you very much Scott (and fellow Outposters).
It means a lot to me to get such compliments from Gibson connaisseurs such as you!
Gorgeous !
I think everybody should have a V .
Nice to see another great build that captures the spirit of what we love about Gibson. The only sad thing is that whatever they come up with for that Gene V can't possibly exceed the excellent design you've just shared. Better luck next time Mr. Curleigh.
You got my initial reaction on insta, but seeing the bigger photos here I must remark at the attention to detail. Everything is right about this bass and I'm not even a V guy.
That is truly beautiful. And it sounds great in the video too.
This is what I wish Gibson would do more of - a new design inspired by the past that captures so much classic/vintage essence while looking utterly unique.
How is it possible that it doesn't neck dive? In the video it looks like several times it's just hanging there without you touching it. Well done!
What does it weigh?
Thank you guys.
Indeed, it doesn't dive at all. It just hangs there and it stays there. Doesn't even wanna go horizontal.
The tuners are Hipshot Ultralites. That helps a lot to start with
The location of the lower strapbutton helps too. If it had been at the end of a wing tip it would have wanted to dive. And it would also have forced the entire bass to the left, which would have made the lower positions very far to the left.
I don't have a scale in the house that works at the moment. We had a glass one, and it broke into thousand pieces last week...
But I'm guessing this bass weighs ± 4 kilograms. Very comfortable weight without feeling like a toy.
Two Brooks sister, side by side

Fantastic looking pair! What's next - Moderne? ;)
I have thought about building a Moderne of sorts. But I'm definitely not going to build one for myself. I'd only do it on commission.
At the moment I'm working on another 12 string Explorer bass. For a guy in the USA.
Yeah! I remembered that one, but forgot who owned it.
It's great!
It was a fun build. I need to re wire it I think. I love the stuff you are doing . The way it should be . Maybe I can send this to you.M
That would be a costly affair... I live in The Netherlands. To send it back and forth could amount up to 600 USD...
that is just gorgeous
I love them both!
