I thought it was fake Gibson when I first saw it. turns out to be a one off Custom Shop creation.

"You know, I'm actually wearing white!"
PS: Not exactly lovingly done, very slapdash. A Schaller roller bridge on a 1999 bass?
My (formerly) white '89 Bird has turned that color.........
They certainly didn't bother to fill the pores properly.

I warned you all along how your bathroom games would not go without repercussions. Urine trouble now.

I think I've seen this movie.
Uhum, probably rated R or even NC-17.

Maybe, but that's what Gibson put on the SG-Z basses in the late 90's, but it might have gone by unnoticed for you just because they used the BLACK variant. :P

I didn't realize it at the time! Only after his visit, embarrassing and funny!

Holy shit , there's a Guild Thunderbass amp in the background of that photo of the V !
(https://i.postimg.cc/65nkQW9N/IMG-7651.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
May not have been the finest bass amp ever made , but by God they're funky !
Like something out of The Jetsons!
A great local guitar player used one , and always had a great sound with it . Moved to Montreal , broke our hearts .
Not a great amp for bass , despite being a bass amp . Heh , probably better than anything Vox made though .
Pity none of the contemporary designers can haul something like that out . It's seriously funky . Right up there with the Rickenbacker Transonics !
I was expecting to see this one -

Yikes! Another "Gibson Custom" that's not a Gibson.
You mean master luthier Steve Wishnevsky did not last long at the Gibson Castom Shop?
I had to look around , Wish did make a V inspired bass ... $200

Haha, that is hilarious! :toast:
That green knob really takes this design to another level!

Is this the time when we say "I wish it was a Bass"?
:rimshot:
I've heard some say that Wish Bass is fun, not to be taken too seriously.
We used to have a nice little used/vintage shop , I was frequently in to look around . And one day , coming through the door , I spotted one in all it's glory . The store owner was watching . I walked up , and then walked back and gave it a long look before saying "those things do not disappoint" .
It was truly awful . The varnish had run streaks and drip marks , it was beyond primitive , and there was absolutely no doubt of it's origin .
Beyond all that it was truly hideous .
It sold within ten days .
I think it was priced at $400 . That's what new ones were at the time . A hundred dollars a string , and then extras ... varnish , truss rod , etc , etc .
It lived up to the reputation , and yet there was some weird appeal to the thing .
But I actually have seen and played one .
(well-behaved clapping) Thanks for sharing.

That's not as bad as some of his creations I've seen.

Believe it or not, truss rods are optional on those things.
With age, they win more and more functional appeal with me. Truss rods and a nut wrench.

The one I played did not have one . Some people describe a really big neck as being like a baseball bat ... this was bigger .
Trust me , it did not need a truss rod .
And it truly possessed a terrible beauty .
There used to be a clip of Wishnevsky jamming with some guys on YouTube , his approach playing was as odd as his design sense . Kind of random glissando but without a tonal reference . Very strange .
Ok , I found it .
If I get tossed from this forum ... I understand .
For the love of God make sure your seated before you start this .
... the legendary Wishbass demo video

You're identifying with Sam Eagle more and more these days.
That is because I want old-fashioned decency to return swoop in over America again. He simply appeals to me, Sam's feathers are a beautiful shade of blue with not even a trace of nasty orange.
Shit. I need a green knob in my life now.
Get your thumb back in that dyke until you've purged all such thoughts from your mind... :o
The fact that he can't play and is evidently tone-deaf does not have a lot to do with the quality (or lack thereof) of his primitive creations. Neither Leo Fender nor Ned Steinberger could play guitar or bass.
It obviously doesn't help either...
For sure.

True, but Henry J could!
And Leo and Ned never made themselves laughing stock by attempting to do it either.
