LBO's own Scott Dasson gets a more than honorable mention BTW
Thanks for mentioning that Mark! I had no idea that was coming, I was hoping maybe for a glimpse of the Badbird but a two page spread that has a paragraph and my name spelled right was more than I could have hoped for! I'm still in shock.

That's great! I ordered the book, looks pretty cooll!
My kids gave it to me. It's really cool.
Got it. I think it's the heaviest book I've ever owned! Lots of great pics and insight. Chapters on Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, misc. odds and ends, and his own gear. Very enjoyable so far!

Can someone post a scan?
NICE!
Congrats Scott
Wow. This makes me like Geddy now even more, if that is possible. Congrats Scott, well deserved credit and recognition.
Thanks, it unexpected. Dave thanks for posting, since I lost access to my photo bucket I can't post pictures here anymore.

You should have access to Photobucket again with the latest change in management. You can always upload your pics to Imgur, that will work fine for posting here. And you can always add pics here directly as an attachment, which is what I did with the pics I copied from your FB page.
I tried directly, files were to big ???
Scott, this is linked directly from my Photobucket free account. With a paid account, their logo goes away. There's probably a bandwidth limit too.

I saw this P Bass that used to belong to Entwistle, so I thought I'd look it up in John's book. Cool!
Got the book! Awesome!
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
The Good: My wife ordered a copy of the book without me knowing off Amazon.com (thank you dear).
The Bad: Delivery is 1-3 months. Unbelievable!!!!
The Ugly: I only have 2 more months to wait.
TD
Same here, ordered before christmas and estimated to arrive around easter. I'm used to shop on ebay and get stuff from the other side of the world in a couple of days.
I ordered it on Amazon. At first it said delivery in 2-3 weeks. At the end of December after a week overdue, I called Amazon. I was told "yes, there seems to be some holdup with the book, and I was not the first person to enquirer about the delivery/delays". I cancelled because my local bookshop had it on the shelf.
I got it from the publisher in some days
Is Rob already suing because of the obvious lay-out rip-off from his Gibson bass book?
Mine finally arrived! No thanks to amazon, after many delay messages they cancelled the order because of 'lack of stock'. But my dear friend ebay helped me out, shipped in a week🙂 Wow, amazing book. Every thinkable bass in every thinkable colour.. Good gibson section too. First time I have ever seen a colour photo of the one pickup EB-6. Love it!
Geddy Lee was in Amsterdam two weeks ago, signing his books.
160 (!) people bought a ticket: 80 euros with the book included. No book ordered at that store? No queueing or autograph. (*)
The guy of the store told me printing is limited and they print for the stores who have Geddy signing first. In Holland all books were delayed at BOL.com (like the Dutch amazon) and it was only available in this shop.
Nice to see him and get my book signed. I also made a pic of him holding my bass magazine with the article of his book.
I got an e-mail late last week saying that an Amazon seller had ONE in stock, at $37 US. Placed my order and it arrived yesterday. Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time. I've just started exploring it and it is a wonderful piece of work.
Hmm, it's selling for $135 in N.Z.
It's in stock at Amazon for $51.41 and at Barnes & Noble, $48.41 from a UK seller.
US list price is $75.
It's Canada Day today.

All bow to our leader! He respects the classics!! :o 8)
Beauty!!
Just received mine! Fantastic book, much better than my expectations.
I ordered the book last friday night. And it was delivered the very next day in the afternoon.
It is beautiful!
And quite heavy too!
I had bought it to bring along on my vacation, but decided against it because of its weight. I was afraid to damage it.

That book
is a vacation, Rob!
I just finished looking at the book. I noticed that at least one bass that is in my personal top 5 is not mentioned: the Guild Starfire. I have one in almost pristine conditions. And a De Armond too.
Also no mention of Grabbers, Rippers or Rd's.
But I've the great book of Rob for that, maybe Mr.Lee should have bought a copy!

I'll just speak for myself. But it would be hard to ignore any Starfires, Grabbers, Rippers, or RDs.
He gets way, way, WAY deep into the Fender stuff, at the expense of covering a whole lot of other basses. I might have already mentioned that it's disappointing he completely blew off the early "boutique" builders like Alembic and Spector and the advent of active electronics entirely. Whether you like that stuff or not, it's an important part of the bass guitar's history. Not complaining, love the book. The chapter on his stage basses is awesome for an old fan-boy like me.
I don't think Geddy wanted to be complete and have all basses, but he just bought the basses he liked and he shows us those.

I haven't bought the book yet, but that's my understanding of what it's supposed to be, basses from his personal collection.
I was just wondering why he didn't add such basses to his collection. He clearly owns unusual basses as Hagstrom and Eko, and ones that I've never seen in his hands, as the EB1 or EB3.
I can't believe that he has never meet a Starfire looking for vintage basses.

I think it's unlikely you'll see an EB-1 or EB-3 in the hands of anyone fond of Fenders. Most Fender fans don't like those basses or an EB-2 and especially not an EB-0. I'm speaking in general of course. There are always many exceptions. As for Geddy Lee, of course he is legendary. But I've never been a Rush fan and have never kept up with what basses he played. I hope this doesn't make me sound like a barbarian on a Geddy Lee thread, but it probably does.

Well, until 2012 he only had a couple of vintage basses - those he used live and in the studio (A jazz and a Rick).
I think the collection is amazing, he even grew fond of short scale Gibson basses as well as Höfners. Judging from what he writes,
he's obsessive and probably will collect more basses.
