Title: Just sayin' howdy!
Post by: GildedSplinter on September 04, 2018, 10:54:33 PM
I played drums for about 15 years, during which time, I started fiddlin' around with the guitar. A couple medical issues forced my resignation from the drum throne, but I was able to enjoy playin' guitar for a few years before job, family, & the usual stuff sidelined me entirely. Another 15 years roles by, after which I ran into an old friend, and an opportunity to play bass dropped in my lap. It was exactly what I needed at the time! Unfortunately, the band blew up after only a handful of rehearsals, but it was long enough for me to get hooked! Unfortunately, I'm between amps at the moment... but here's what I'll plug in to whatever fills that void:

(... and I have no idea why the pic displays sideways) :P

Hello and welcome! With that taste you will like this place. There are plenty of T'bird and Gretsch discussions here.

T-Bird owners are almost too numerous to name, but Pilgrim has the Gretsch collection.

It's ok, we have other ex-drummers here (Polish ones from Canada - as if one of those traits wasn't already plenty!) and we're an inclusive bunch that will go to great lengths to overcome its preconceptions!  8)

Hey GildedSplinter, Life happens, but hang in there man.
Cool pic by the way, even if it is sideways.

Bird lover here as well.

Welcome.
I've said before, just think of the Outpost as "Lord of the Flies" with 50 year-old men.  8)

Thanks!

I'll make no apologies. The avatar is purely pornography for my own pleasure (but if it works for you too, that's cool... I just don't need to know what you do with it) ;)

I don't need it, I have my own '71 slothead. :)

Nice to have you here - and I note the highly tasteful Gretsch 5123; its litter-mate is in my music room.  Very nice bass!

I look forward to hearing from you here.

Hi and welcome!  I am very much in favor of people finding their way to bass from other instruments.
(Or vice-versa for that matter.)   Changes your perspective on everything!  Bass is fun!

I think of it as closer to Animal House with more trains, WWII aircraft and tanks, and more butt jokes.

I'm often not too good with technical expertise (I'm speaking of basses) and jokes about various topics.  But it can be informative, interesting and entertaining to read comments from those who are good at those things.  There is also a lot of rock music history, something I'm sometimes informed on and sometimes not.  It also is useful having perspectives on something like that from different countries.
