I've got a new bass ready!
Best one so far.
All the Brooks basses have been a take on the first EB-0 with Les Paul Junior double cut body shape. But they're all 34" scale and all of them combine shape of the EB-0 with the characteristics of another classic.
This time it's a love child of the EB-0 with the Thunderbird. Hence the EB-TB name.
I made the center piece nine ply mahogany and walnut. Glued flamed mahogany body wings to both sides.
I used nickel plated hardware. And a 9.2 K humbucker from EY Guitars.
The pickguard is three ply with the flame of the Brooks logo engraved. And the lines on either side or cut out. This was done by a friend of mine with a cnc machine.

Even looks good without pick guard...
I didn't drill holes for the screws yet. For the pictures with the pick guard I cut the screws off behind the head. Leaving just enough to screw into the pick guard without touching the wood of the body. And I used double sided tape to keep the pick guard in place. So if anyone wants to buy it without pick guard, that is possible without leaving the holes 8)

Sexy.
Just too bad re the raised middle without tru neck; sorry, but I've always thought that was wrong.
Isn't it a through neck made to look like a set neck? Either way it's aces in my book. Great platform for some Ripper pickups too perhaps.
I think it accentuates the fact that it is neck through.
I have no plans to put Ripper pickups in this bass... :o
Such a beautiful bass! Absolutely gorgeous! That is IT!
It's gorgeous, and that pickup appears to be in the perfect spot!!
Not this specific bass but a future build. If I have enough spare change after I sell my condo, maybe I can order one that way.
Wow what a cool idea!
That bass is also among the first I've seen that looks nicer without neck or bridge covers. Pure beauty! I'm impressed!
Beautiful. If I were in the market for it, I'd leave off the guard. Bet it sounds great with the pickup in that location.
Thank you guys.
The pickup is in the same location as the Thunderbird II. Thank you Scott for measuring it ;-)
I made a quick video, so you get an idea how it sounds:

This is niiiice
Sounds great with a pick.

Very Nice
Best looking one yet! :) :toast:
I just noticed that the schaller lightweight tuners are the same type as the ones i put on my eb4l.Like them a lot.Helped heaps, the originals weighed a ton.
All it needs is a Kahler or a bigsby
Really like the design.
That's perfect! It even goes to eleven. I'd leave the guard off since I find it more beatiful without. Too bad really because I also like the 'tip of the hat'-logo.
Thank you guys.
There have been several guys who prefer it without pickguard.
I think the pickguard belongs on this bass; the EB-0 has one and the Thunderbird has one.
But I do agree the wood underneath the pickguard is almost too pretty to hide behind a slab of plastic ;)
How much is it? To buy?
€ 2100. Which is about $ 2575
Case included
Too bad it's long scale....
But it is probably the most beatutiful new bass I've seen in decades.
The pickguard looks great too, just a perfect instrument!
Oh it IS neck thru.
Yes, it's neck through. The faux neck joint heel may have fooled you.

Great work man, looks amazing! I'd like to see it with a black pickguard. ;D
I did several tests for the pickguard. A friend of mine has access to a laser cutter and a cnc machine.
The pickguard on the left is the three ply pg. It was cut out with the cnc machine.
The pickguard in the middle is acrylic mirror, and it was cut with a laser. The flame was engraved on the backside of the mirror. Making it semi transparent.
The pickguard on the right is three ply birch wood, and it was cut out with a laser. The flame is literally burnt away form the top layer of the veneer.
The one on the left made it to the final pg. But I had to work on the flame a bit :P

I love how the lines are cut all the way through. We got a laser cutter at the case shop a few months ago. I might have to play around with it. ;D
