I complimented Mr. Wilfer of Warwick with the bass. He asked me where I found it and I told him. Knowing him he shut down the link, haha!
Well, it's different, all right. Not sure that I like it. I give Warwick credit for trying different designs.
I like the fluid styling myself.
It looks like an EB-2 melt-morphing into a Thunderbird.
I'd play that. It has a graceful look to it, and I actually like the look better than the normal Warwicks.
It looks like they're trying to tempt Nikki Sixx away from Schecter with that one. He can have it.
The guitar versions have different colours in raised part and lower part and they are very strangely put together. Almost like a jigsaw. That isn't quite clear at this pic.
But look at these guitars:

I think they're beautiful. Those guitars I mean.
But the bass guitars always have the "scared hare ears". And ugly headstock shape.
I liked the error pic. better!
I've almost fallen in love with those guitars! The bass....nah....to me there's something about the controls, pickups and hardware on the body (both proportions and placement) that ruins the esthetics of the body lines.
I agree with the most of you that the guitar looks better. But I want to see the 4-string. 5-strings just look too bulky.
Strange: With most 'strange' models like the Tbird, the Gretsch Billy Bo and some more I like the bass version better. A longer neck looks better with those body shapes.
I'd like to see the bass version of the Fender Meteora that Dave posted the other day. I bet that it would look awesome.
Exactly my thoughts... ...although Fender will ruin it with a PJ ;)

But of course!
I will post them soon, but I just saw a 4-string idolmaker. Much better!

I don't like the colour combination with gold hardware, but I do like the shape.
That doesn't look like it will balance well.

Yep.
But not
that original - a lot of boutique Thunder/Firebird copies do that exact same thing with the raised portions of the body (while retaining a generally more T/Fbird shape).

I agree with Jake.
I do like the lines but subjective review of the color combos would be critical.

I reminds me of that one Swiss-Italian guitar boutique I can't think of the name right now - sort of the Ritter of guitars, they have "molten shapes" like that quite often.
Yes, Warwick is intrepid in trying new things, but at the same time their stylings vary so greatly (and they are also intrepid in swiping other people's ideas) it is sometimes hard to identify a Warwick look if it weren't for that tell-tale-harestock where I fully second Rob's esthetic concerns. In a way, Warwick are like Ibanez in that respect.
"Idolmaker" sounds like something Dean would come up with.
PS: I remembered the name! Pagelli!!! (He and his wife also design for other brands.)

Good observation! My sources tell me that Warwick will have its own version of the Dean Girls. Here's a sneak preview.

They are a thrifty company - more likely it will end up with Chris P in drag or something. :-\

You never know.... :D I just applied for the Bund Deutscher Mädel.
Of course I do some jobs for Warwick as a company, helping out at the Bass Camp. That means I met the most famous players, which is nice for my magazine. The bass camp teachers are also non-Warwick players. This means I got guys and gals like Ellefson, Trujillo, Bobby Vega, Lee Sklar, Billy Sheehan, Rhonda Smith, Nik West, Yolanda Charles, Gary Willis, Victor Wooten, Abe Laboriel Sr, Guy Pratt, Chuck Rainey, Neil Murray, Juan Alderete, Felix Pastorius and Scott Reeder (just to name a few, and also guitar players like Phil X and Devin Townsend) all on speed dial. Very grateful for that. I do not like all Warwick basses, but I do like some!
Having said that: I know Rob hates the drooping rabbit ears tuners, but IMHO it's one of the most recognizable headstock on stages, alog with Rickenbacker, maybe Höfner, G&L. You would say Fender and Gibson too, but anything with a Fender headstock could be anything....

True. Easy to tell a Warwick apart from other "woody" basses.

Ugh! The original horn may have been too phallic for the owner, but why ruin the functionality? Now it's ugly and unbalanced.
I'm not going to denigrate German product here - at least they don't diesel gas primates.
Yet another good band name: "Diesel Gas Primates". :P

Ok, so you'll poo poo Hofner and Volkswagon til the cows come hoime but you draw the line at Warwick? Total sense-making bud.

The shape of the body kinda reminds my of my homemade guitar. Someone at Warwick must have been watching the Dutch bass & guitar forums...

The shape is not new. Firebird-ish. But the way it's 3D is great!
I like it, but it's basically a flipped and tweaked Jaguar.
