local guy has this for sale:
.... but his price is CA$3.8k, which despite the vintage and the (apparently) immaculate condition, still seems rather high (currently approx US$3k).
Le sigh.
That does look wonderful.
Just sell the car.
That thing looks killer. 8)
No children to give away for adoption to a good caring home?
Are you inquiring out of interest?
...,. cuz I am not sure I would agree that it's a good caring home where one tortures the kid with the Deep Purple discography on 24-7 repeat with the occasional krautprog CD thrown in the changer for (relative) relief.
 But you know my natural fertility!
I'm proud that my now 25 year old daughter, born 1991, has Alice Cooper's Steven (from Welcome to my Nightmare) as one of her all time favorite songs on her I-Pod! You can't wish for more normality with your child, can you?

That said, her initial tastes as a pre-teen were somewhat less dark, she used to go wild about this song (and denies it today)!

When the kids asked for some "happy music", they would regularly hear this though, eine kleine leichte Nachtmusik:

Just knowing it's so close would drive me bonkers. A local guy tormented me with am overpriced '67 Melody Maker for over year. He finally came to his senses though after I made him a fair offer and sitting on it so long. If its that overpriced it will be there for a while, just be ready to strike when he drops it.
It's kinda TOO nice. Collector's piece, not a player. It would be more fun to find something with some "character" for less money.
Vintage gushing aside, I find the long term use of an EB-2 (especially sans bridge pickup) in a rock band that is not a Yardbirds tribute limited. It's nice to look at and have, people will marvel at it in a rehearsal room etc. And then say at the next rehearsal when you're playing again your Fender P or Ibanez Soundgear: "Hey, you sound real good today."
Allen Woody was the only one I know who could make those sound really good...
David Steele and Simon Gallup used them well too (though technically those were Epi Rivoli reissues; not that different)
Now there's this one in Montreal:

Asking CA$2k. OK that's better but with that damage (also non-original tuners and missing the guard ), really?
Kinda looks like lefty (handed, not necessarily politically ;P) punk was playing this thing real hard.
I wouldn't touch that one for 2k. Not only is the wear and replacement tuners a problem, who know what the oversized washer on the baritone switch is covering up. Things like that always make me nervous.

And yet we have an 8-page thread with many EB-2/Rivoli videos, and more in the EB-0 to EB-4 thread. Go figure.
Why buy a cheap bass that sounds good plugged immediately when you can buy an expensive one where you have to work at to make it audible?

Oh I agree; that damage by the F hole is extensive. I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much even if I had the budget and certainly not without personally inspecting the instrument to make sure it wasnt worse than it looks. That washer in particular caught my eye as potentially hiding something.

Oh come on now. You definitely don't have to work to make it audible. You'll never get crisp upper mids and highs, but you will be heard.
Yeah, in much the same way the nuclear rocket deity in

It's a Man Bass, with balls! The 50's EB-2's had both balls & Mickey Mouse ears...............
With mothballs. Mothed and muffled. :P

It takes courage to admit that you can't hear what the rest of us can hear. :P
There was an exceptionally fine condition EB2 in a shop here for ages. The guy wanted $AU6K for it.
Can't remember what year it was. Never bothered me it was half an hours drive away.
This thread prompted me to check whether it was still there just now.
I see the shop has gone into receivership a few months ago.
The first one is a 64?
Well if it helps i think my horribly beaten up eb2 is a 64 and it has that bridge.

Exactly... everyone at the back of the room will be blown away. Your other choice (and you'd be in fine company along with Hooky and myself) is just play most things higher up on the neck (we all know you like to go there Mr "Good High Register Access").
Also there's always the baritone switch (I have a Sunn head - I can get all the bass I want back in there no problem ... actually I have 2 Sunns now; got a decent local deal recently on a 2 x 6550 based Solarus that was not working - turned out to be just a bad fuse; dirty connections to the reverb tank and now it seems V1 needs to be replaced; bought it to fix n flip tho so hopefully won't be here long - trying to raise money for the gear budget).

Come again?
geez, get an ear horn and stop standing so close to your Hartke stack. :-*
Duh, that's an advice you should have given me 20 years ago! But if I'm honest, these days my favourite positon (with no other human being involved that is) is sitting beside the 8x10" Ampeg fridge (sans horn of course) on top of my 1x18" Ampeg cube. Very comfy.
Whatever treble my ears don't catch anymore, my butt now picks up as(s) bass frequencies ... and let me tell you - I like the feeling!
So I see frauline has seduced tyou to the world of butt play.

(good flick)
Bad influence is something I succumb to all to easily - we're naturally attracted!
So, in our desperation and old age we tend to settle..... now what do you think the chances are of this guy accepting a reasonable offer (the last one on ebay , black, which is nicer than this clown burst, went for US$500 = CA$640):

le sigh
Gee, I never saw a "hallow" body bass before.
I wonder if it's really hallowed, or just pretty devout? :P
That's one tip off, I thought, that the seller won't listen to reason.

I actually laughed out loud.
I'd try Jake
$1000 for a 90s reissue? IIRC the consensus on these were that they weren't very good without modding. Hallowed or not, I wouldn't offer half that.
See http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=9616.0
That's what I thought, Dave. Thanks for the confirm.
Figure a pickup swap/electronics tweak will take care of it.
Good luck with your offer. You never know, he might be reasonable.
Just don't be bashful Jake.

Is showing gay dwarfs still pc these days? :o
I didn't think we worried about that here.
The dwarfs, being gay or the pc thing?
