Recovered with carpet and no original grilles, but still think it's a good price since they're in very nice shape and the drivers have been upgraded to JBL E-140s (very heavy, but great speakers). The one on ebay last week (it's been years since I saw one there) went for 205 (all original aside from the Black Widow speaker and one damaged corner with missing hardware) + shipping from Texas (which woulda been +85 for me, whch I was surprised at and almost upped my bid on it, but let it go in the end): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Music-Man-115-RH-Electric-Guitar-Amp-Amplifier-Monitor-Speaker-/142360877906?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=11nfyzhFRbQCHkPVkqbFQEMe6YI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
I spent years trying to locate a 115RH in Scandinavia. They sound very good, I have the JBL too.
Would be a time consuming job shaving off that carpet though, and then the cost of putting tolex on them.
I really hate carpet, I have had a carpet free bass experience since mid 90's when I got rid of my peavey 410/115 stack.
Yeah, not a fan of carpet either, but for someone who don't mind/care it's not a bad deal (both; 1 less so). Just the JBLs are worth the price; cabs are a free bonus. If they were local I'd have bought them already.
He claims the carpet gives them a nice warm tone. I've never heard that before.
Considering the lack of BS besides that, I am assuming that's a joke that didn't come off well. He's gotta know that carpet is dated and hated.
True. You just don't see it much any more. Even Carvin cabs have tolex now.
The trend away from carpet probably started with Playboy and Penthouse.
I've never noticed that presence or absence of carpet made much difference in the tone generated.
But it does keep the drivers warm in cold northern climates of upper NY State.
My Markbass stuff came fully carpeted. Italian men must still dig carpet............. (Last Tango in Paris).

It's usually a good idea to keep ones' driver warm.

Well iuf it's gonna be that kind of thread.
Not just italian men. Personally I find the modern times' obsession with complete hairlessness rather concerning..... as in, why are so many people into the prepubescent look? Taking care of it or keeping it neat/tidy, fine, but god damn.

For the same reason some women only want to kiss a man's clean-shaven face.
Date a woman that digs beards; dig beards yourself.
Not a big fan of beards myself, unless they're close-cropped and well maintained. I've had them a couple of times, but always conforming to that model.
Different strokes.
I'm in the process of going full wizard. It is an awkward stage, I admit. I am trying to figure out how to get length without width.
I refinished mine in carpet and wished I did the duratuff thing. It made the the cab lose some definition (Warmer).
