And are looking to record an album. I wonder if Duff will end up joining them, or maybe Mark Evans will avail himself.

Oh well, it's always good to have a plan B if that other career falters.
Hopefully, they will at least let him write his own lyrics.
I like Duff's bass playing a lot, but with A(xl)C/D(uff)C he'd be severely underchallenged.
Too bad that Dee Dee Ramone is unavailable too. I always found that AC/DC and the Bruddahs have something in common in the (near-moronic) single-mindedness of their approach.
I think it was brilliant that Duff was replaced by the bass player of The Replacements in GnR and that Duff was the replacement for the Replacement bass player for a part of a GnR tour. And some people even asked what he did before temporarily joining GnR again:)
Am I alone in not being interested in this particular assembly of players that are going to call themselves AC/DC?
I'd respect it more if they whole enterprise were given a new identity.

Uhhh No You're Not
With you Mark on this.
I agree.
Wind Generator...?
I somewhat admire Angus work ethic, But at a certain point its just silly to keep going. At least he isn't going out with a band of holograms based on the former members a la Dio.
Agree With all of you here. I grew up With them and never thought I'd dislike them but now I do.
This is a result of Angus saying for years that he'd never do a solo project or play in other bands.
Is ACDC some sort of sacred institution that is now sullied by having a new singer? It doesn't bother me so much. It should be interesting to hear some new material with a guy that can handle the kind of vocal range and timbre they have been known for. I don't remember hearing people crow about Paul Rodgers being in Queen for instance and he was even less of a natural fit compared to Axl with ACDC. Now if Led Zeppelin started back up with Bret Michaels I could understand some consternation there. Hopefully Jimmy Page doesn't get any ideas.
I don't give a screech who joins Angus on stage when he does his thing, it's all yawny after two or three songs to me.
However, it's no less credible than a solely Francis Rossi-led Status Quo or a "Rainbow" with Blackmore being the sole member who ever played on a Rainbow album. To the non-muso public Angus Young personifies AC/DC and Axl is at least someone they have heard of before.
People don't go to Bob Dylan concerts because of the particular bass player he plays with either.
Rodgers in Queen was an awful choice. Not because he wasn't Freddie (most people aren't), but because he was on opposite ends of Freddie, yet had to sing his songs. Rodgers is a great vocalist, but one thing he cannot: Sing tongue in cheek, yet with operatic grandeur, very much English Music Hall. And that is key with Queen. Rodgers patterned his vocal style after US-American blues and soul greats. Lambert is doing a far better job than Rodgers (who never sang a wrong note with Queen) - as Roger Taylor once quipped: Being gay helps the role!

If it was just a new singer, it would be one thing (they replaced the singer before, right?), but now Malcolm is gone, Phil Rudd is gone, and as I understand it, Cliff Williams is gone too. Angus is the only AC/DC guy left in the band. I think they should have hung it up years ago, but these days, there's to much $$$ left on the table.
If it were just a new singer it might be interesting, but when the entire rest of the band is gone it's a whole 'nother thing for me. It's just Angus' vanity project at this point, nothing wrong with him wanting to keep going but is it really doesn't feel like AC/DC anymore Malcolm, Cliff, Phil & Brian are all gone. Even though the lineup changed over the years up to this point they still always came across as a "Band" to me as opposed to a vehicle to promote one superstar member. Axl as a singer is probably a smart move because he'll sell tickets but even that feels like a gimmick.
Maybe they can put a tour together with Lynryd Skynyrd.
I didn't realize it's down to just Angus. That is kind of lame, like if Alex Lifeson was the only one on board with another Rush tour and he recruited Kip Winger and Phil Collins. :o

The horror! :o
FWIW I don't care that Angus or Axle want to continue, it's calling the band AC/DC that rubs me wrong.

... only to Discover he'd have to play the drums because phil collins wanted to be the frontman:-)
...which would work out fine considering Phil outsold Rush in the 80s, but then ticket sales would dry up after Eric Clapton starts a competing tour with Peter Gabriel fronting Cream.
This all seems silly until you remember that besides Axl fronting ACDC, the Grateful Dead are playing with John Mayer and without Phil Lesh. Also what's the point of Deep Purple without Ritchie Blackmore anyway. Yeah I went there. ;D
Bands age. Like all of us. They go through phases. Like all of us.
If one phase ends and another one starts then I'm against dwelling on the past forever - that's a bit like wishing that Brad and Jennifer, errrm, Angelina were still an item. Angus&Axl/DC want to record a new album, that is legitimate. If all they did was a Greatest Hits tour with Axl singing Bon Scott songs it be a different matter to me. Axl does a good job singing/screeching that stuff, you know how limited yet tasking the role of a vocalist in AC/DC is.
I don't have issues with Steve Morse in Purple, he has been longer in that band than Blackmore (even taking all his various stints together) and the music has adapted to his style. He's no dark maverick like Blackmore and no drugged charming angel wildly veering between breathtaking inspiration and utter failure like Bolin, just a gifted musician working hard at his craft. Nostalgia aside, I don't think that Blackmore would have much to say with DP anymore, his days of inspiration are behind him. Never mind, anybody who wrote something as idiosyncratic as the Burn riff is entitled to some inspirational rest.

Ditto.
Point taken Uwe. ZZ top are all together but can anyone hum a tune of theirs from the last twenty years even? Any band with any line up has an expiration date. Thinking about Phil Collins though, it would be great to see him and Genesis do a remake of the Land of Confusion video. It would be worth it for the Trump and Merkel puppets alone.
Collins was over-present for pretty much all of the 80ies and much of the 90ies, spreading himself very thinly, and there was a time when you really couldn't make out anymore what was him solo and what was Genesis. That said, I think he was/is one of the most gifted and musical drummers of the world and he has a soul- and tuneful voice, a lot more flexible than Gabriel's - whose voice oozes charisma, but is/was in fact very limited in what it could do.
Talk about an entertaining drum solo with a tune to it!

Ah, Tarzan. I didn't see that animated version (on purpose,) but I've seen all the others. Margot Robbie. She isn't in AC/DC but she's definitely Australian and does a good job of playing Jane, too.

Oh my, that is dumb, but cute, I think I'll rent the bluray, chick flick! Edith has a crush on that True Blood guy.

As an avid Tarzan fan since age 9, I'm very familiar with the Tarzan movies. This one was disappointing. Alexander Skarsgard wasn't right for the part and the plot was way too contrived. But I have no complaints about Margot Robbie. My expectations for the movie were high, but it's probably still worth watching at least once. I will agree that, contrary to many other Tarzan movies, this one is probably of more interest to women than men.

or maybe Mark Evans will avail himself.
Mark emailed me the other day to ask if I still had the cherryburst Ripper I owned a few years ago - he still has the one he used with ACDC, but says he is looking for a second one to have as a "backup". I didn't press him any further on that, but you never know I guess?
Scraping the barrel for cedibility you mean?
They also still have Chris Slade who I really like as a drummer and who left a strong visual impact in his time with them. Though I have seen AC/DC three times and always with Phil Rudd, whenever I think of them, Chris Slade/Popeye/Mr Clean on drums comes to mind.

As far as I'm concerned, Phil gets a pass on all of it just for Chinese Wall. Even after paying absolutely no attention at all to all the rest of his output, I freakin' loved that album. Of course, Philip Bailey may have had something to do with it.
I see it coming: This thread will ultimately spawn rumours about how Phill Collins will join the new AC/DC line up - and why not, backing vocals were never their strong department, 'tis about time, 'tisn't it? He will have to get those sophisticated endings right though, real tricky to keep apart.

AC/DC - the great Australian anathema to variation.

I was thinking more Weird Al Yankovic.
I've been saying for years that AC/DC need's an accordion player. I think Al would fit right in.
They should ask Barry Gibb.
He'd fit right in.
