Man that sucks, but the same thing happened to my SG JR. Broke in the case, don't know how it happened. The good news is that it was 40 years ago and once fixed it stayed fixed.

BTW, good luck with the girl.

Explain the situation to the girl, if she shows you some sympathy then you know you are on the right track  ;)

That guys an idiot. He's had it listed that high for months. The LP Standards don't even sell for that much. There have been a few like yours on ebay lately, but for a lot more than you paid for yours. Hope you can get yours fixed.

Ouch! Be sure to take it to someone with Gibson headstock repair experience.

Nah not sympathy like offering her lace hankerchief to you but like she understands how important a beautiful instrument can be.

Not amusing when that happens. I suppose it's not cracked through the headstock. An experienced person can fix it nicely but the crack will still be visible. Once fixed you'll get used to it. I smashed off the headstock off my Ripper. I was bummed out for a few hours but started the repair work the day after the break. Now theres only a line visible as reminder and I feel it's more of a history mark to me now.

That's not a horrible break. Settle down, no use crying over spilled milk or broken maho. A good luthier will repair this for you (perhaps by injecting some glue without even taking the break apart) and who knows the glued break might still hold when that other relationship might be long forgotten ...  ;)

It could have been the bump with the singer, it might have been an old fissure and then someone bumped the case too hard. Release string tension and bring it to the doctor. Best of luck!

Uwe

That's why I like ones that already have a headstock repair. If you break them again, it doesn't affect their condition or value.

Seriously though, welcome to the club. You can now call yourself a Gibson owner....  ;)

There should be some sort of *free clinic* for these kinds of things  ;)

Skate Rat, that sucks! I hope you can get it fixed quickly and be back in business soon.

How about health insurance for them!

BassAid or BassCare?

No, you really can't have that, you want to choose your own luthier, guys, and pay for him, not have some state socialist behemoth tell you where and if you can have your bass repaired!!! You want notices like this?

"Dear Comrade Bass Owner,

The Officer Council of the LCWAC (Luthier Collective Work Acceptance Committee) of the Vladimir Lenin 1st People-Owned Guitar Repair State Combine have reviewed your application from two years ago and found that current efforts to meet the five-year-instrument-repair-plan cannot afford the anti-collectivist sacrifice of a single instrument repair for solitary hedonist purposes. Your bass - or its remnants - will shortly be expropriated without compensation. You are further expected to report at a swamp-located CBTIF (Change for the Better Temporary Internment Facility) for solidarity training within short, details of which will be communicated in a separate notice including the appropriate AVI (Application for Voluntary Internment) forms currently unavailable due to general paper shortage. Please fill in the forms in BOLD TYPE.

The LCWAC will be in contact with you again after it has absolved its customarily spontaneous Fidel Castro Commemoration People's Parade which is about to begin.

Obamawards and upwards, we watch over you all!

The LCWAC"

The NHS (national headstock service) is something our nation is VERY proud of!

That is a big bummer but that is part of the charm of being a Gibsonite. That is a pretty  easy repair and it will be stronger than before. Welcome to the club !

I have four or five repaired neck break Gibsons and old Epis. They all do fine service and the necks are stable.

Distractions like this sometimes mean something.  Devote some time to assessing the girl's kharma potential (+ or -).

I strongly recommend abstaining from anything of a sexual nature until you're through this rather dubious part of your life...

there are some things you just DON'T want to tempt, and FATE is one of them...  :o

This is a natural reaction, dear rodent. You are shedding your materialistic skin/fur now that you have found your purpose in life. All that useless stuff you cluttered your life with in the absence of having someone to really emotionally connect with.

Shall we now erase your account here too?

Of course without a pic (and you said you did photograph her, so don't try to edge out now), we can't really clarify whether she is worth the sacrifice ...

From Brooklyn too?
