Burt Bacharach supposedly didn't like Arthur Lee's interpretation. I thought it really wasn't that different from the original, which he wrote for the soundtrack of What's New Pussycat.
When I first became fascinated with cars, the two I wanted most were a Morgan 3 Wheeler and a Lotus Seven America. The downside was that everyone I knew who owned a British car spent most of their spare time working on them. Even the ones that were reliable needed to be fiddled with all the time.
Can you send me a clear photo of that insert? I don't think the one nut I have has it!
I was thinking about my yellowed white '73. The only original parts on it are the carcass, bridge/tailpiece, TRC and jack plate. Everything else had to be replaced, including the truss rods. Still a wonderful bass by the way. So I'm not concerned with originality here. I'll have to source a white Plexi TRC and that could be a problem.

Too many basses? I didn't know that was possible!
If Levis are $50 then I can see buying $50 American-made jeans as an alternative. But I buy regular fit Wranglers, $17 at Target and Walmart. I wear each pair about once a week and they last a couple of years. No complaints.
