I agree with you herr moderator, the only thing I'm gonna change is the crappy electronics.
When I opened the back cover and I saw those microscopic noname pots, well, I instantly think about CTS.
I'm not gonna change the pickup, I really like its bright sound. I mostly play angry fingerstyle so it's a nice match!

If you're going to change the pots, you might want to consider using a push/pull pot for the volume pot. This will allow you to use the pickup in humbucking and single coil mode!

Is there any route behind the pickguard? I was thinking about adding a clear pickgu... NO I DIDN'T SAID THAT!!! :D :D :D
No there is no routing underneath. So go ahead ;)

Mine has arrived. First impressions:

1. Wow ...  :o
2. Wow!  :rimshot:
3. Wow!!!
4. Strings are crap, but well intonated.
5. Very low action, almost buzzless.
6. Fin is better than I expected (I have a baby-blue one), few brownish streaks here and there, don't mind those, give it a relicy touch.
7. Neck is thinner than on original Non Revs hence less or even no neck heaviness.
8. Does it sound like my 67 Non Rev? It has a similar character, but not the same depth of tone, the thinner neck, the crummy strings or the lack of having been around for 42 years might all account for that.
9. I'm still rubbing my eyes at the value for money ratio of this thing!
10. A small wonder, Rob, thank you, true to Calvinist ideology your place in heaven is now secured!

1.2.3. Gratuliere noch einmal  ;)

4. The strings on mine were crap too. As well as the pots.

6. What's with the brown streaks? :o

7. I wonder if they made the necks of the second series thinner (because of the thinner body maybe). The neck on mine doesn't feel (too) thin. Actually I like the neck a lot; It plays real smooth.

10. My pleasure Uwe. Too bad I don't believe in heaven though...

Cool! Can you do an A/B sound review?

An A/B review of these two would be pointless if even if I could do it. The Gibson is equipped with Dimarzio pickups.

I am sure when Uwe gets his he will post a proper review and comparison to an comparable original.

@ Uwe:
8. I'm pretty sure it'll make a big difference if you put on decent strings indeed. That and raising the pickup somewhat. Actually I found out that makes a huge difference / improvement tonewise.

Mark, you're not the only one.  I got the email telling me about the shipping cost.  I told Roman that the cost was nothing, and then asked him what he needed me to do next, and then nothing.

Roman told me they only made 10 white, 10 black and 10 blue ones.
Maybe he's waiting for a third series to make sure he can deliver the desired color to everyone?

He can take his sweet time, I'm okay.  In fact, the closer to September it gets before I have to move on the BachBird, the better.

That is exactly what I did with mine, and it did make a big improvement.
