Here is a quick on-line tutorial:
http://www.learn-c.com/schemat.htm

I worked at Radio Shack a long time ago, and they sold these little books written by Forrest M. Mims III that were really educational for me. If you can find "Getting Started in Electronics" and/or "Electronic Formulas, Symbols & Circuits" by Forrest M. Mims III and read those you may learn what you want to know.

I also enjoyed Craig Anderton's "Electronic Projects for Musicians". Chapter One has a good section on reading schematics.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: Poor, poor Phil Spector

But is he really being bullied or just fearful of it? The notorious murders mentioned by name are in his age group.  Manson is four years older than Spector, and I'll bet he's just as scary as he was 40 years ago.

If it's not fake he just wasn't really into her. If he was in a relationship with regular email communication he would have emailed her his itinerary. If he really cared for her he would have at least sent her a post card. If he loved her he would have taken her with him.

He does tell a good tale though.

While there may be lessons to be learned, this sounds like a made-up story to me. I doubt it ever really happened.

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Traynor ?
« on: August 04, 2009, 08:46:29 AM »
Traynor is still made in Canada. Their factory was featured on the "How it's made" TV show.

I had a YBA-200 for a while and was not impressed. It suffered from low volume, I took it to a local shop for warranty repair. They had it for months and tried to get me to pay $180 for the repair. Even after being rebuilt and re-tubed I could not get clean deep bass from it. I was looking for something easier to transport than my Sunn 300t. The Traynor is half the weight, but I'm still humping the Sunn to gigs.

However if you're looking for a gritty overdriven sound it might be just the trick.

You have to consider the rarity of the peice. Usually it would have been discarded, yet this one survives.

But then, you also must consider the desirability, in this case none.

Input Jack
The Zoot Suit features a ¼” input jack made by Switchcraft. Its super heavy duty construction holds your guitar cable securely in place for a superior electrical connection and tight positive feel.

I would have thought they knew better.

Interesting:

The new Zoot Suit from Gibson USA features a brand new body built with multiple birch wood laminate pieces, each dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. No paint is used. Two coats of satin lacquer are then applied at a 30 sheen to provide a smooth finish and also help protect the body from any damage.

I really like this one:

That is wrong in so many levels.

Especially the part that says: "Made in USA"

The site is an ebay knock-off selling all kinds of "replica" products.

It's innovative. Has any one else tried a mudbucker in the bridge position on a Rick?

But Ohio in the summertime is too warm for this delicate Fraulein  ;)

It's actually cooler here in Ohio than Seattle. Our 5 day forecast tops out at 83° while yours is 92°. Come on down and cool off.

Gary, I hope you have a speedy recovery.
