Gibson Basses / Re: Gibson Grabber Build Thread

The builder said he used a Lakland bridge to show some company pride. I think it looks really great on the Grabber body.

Gibson Basses / Gibson Grabber Build Thread

I found this cool Grabber build thread on TB and thought some folks here might like to see it. The builder is an intern at Lakland and did all the work there. The bass looks great. Here's the link:

Best not to show these over at TB. I don't know what JH could do but why make waves?

Agreed. And it's really nice that these basses are available at such great prices and virtually unknown to the masses. I can't wait to get my Bachbird but I won't be posting pics of it over there once it arrives. Even if it makes it into a group shot at some point there will be no information attached to it. I saw some pics of the NR Bird and heard the Bach name a couple of times before my frantic gas fueled search landed me here. I won't be the one publicly giving away the location of the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.

(Once we saw an interesting Bach bass here) ^See post above^

Ohh.... this one is sweet. And in stock. Where did I put that resistance?

Wow! That looks pretty.

That gives me an idea.
What if you took one of these and put Chisonics in?

once we saw a picture of a bach bass here Mr. Green

Damn Rob. Why'd you have to go and do that.

I saw this bass on TB and thought it looked really nice. It's some sort of reverse Ric clone with Lakland Chi-Sonic pickups in it. The poster is from Sweden. I asked for some info on the bass so we'll see.

I have owned several US Laklands. The one I still own is a mahogany short scale Decade (the bass in my avatar). It's totally unique in feel and tonal range and a monster in every way. I've never had more fun playing bass. It's a lifer for sure. The other two were both passive Joe Osborn jazzes which of course are Fender clones. For me it was all about the neck feel and playability of these basses. No Fender i have ever played has come remotely close to feel and quality of these necks. I'd still own one of them, it had something extra, but I have an almost 15 yr old dog who needed some high dollar vet care this winter so I had to sell it. I'm sure there are magic Fenders out there too. But every US Lakland I have played had an incredible neck. And that makes the cost worth it for me. But the ss Decade is the only one I ordered and paid full price for. The two JOs were both used so somewhat more affordable.

I got the bass. Sorry Mark. It wasn't my intention to step on your toes. I kind of scored it before they even opened. I live on the east coast so Bass NW doesn't open till 2pm my time. Yesterday morning I sent an email saying that if it was still available I'd like to buy it. Evan, the owner of Bass NW, emailed me back right away saying that it was available and that he thought it was a great rare bass. So I bought it. I'm a little leery of the EMG's as I've never been a fan of those that I've heard, although that was years ago. I've also never owned an active bass so we'll see. But it was just too cool and too cheap to pass on. What a finish! Evidently it has barely been played. It had never had strap pins installed. If I decide to flip it Mark, you have first rights of refusal.

I lived in a band house with a basement recording studio in the 80's. We had a small stack of acoustic 360s. They were so cheap second hand and fantastic workhorses. Every time we came across a used one at a pawn shop we would pick it up. I wonder where they all are now. Has anyone played through the new versions, especially the B600H? They seem to get mostly positive reviews but I'd like to hear opinions from someone who has maybe played through both an old one and the new version. Great video.
