gibsonbass.co down?
« on: September 27, 2008, 12:00:49 PM »
I've been trying to get there for a few days now and the page times out on both Internet explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
I did a really stupid thing, took off the TRC last week, forgot about it and can't find it now. It had EB-3 written on it with handwritten letters, it had two screws instead of three, one at the top and one at the middle of the bottom of the bell. I'm pretty sure the cat knocked it off the top of my amp, but have looked pretty well and still can't find it. Are these available at all in case I don't find it? It's a slot head EB-3, supposed to be a 69 by the serial number although it was sold as a 71.
I'd rather have an original of course, does anyone have any idea what an original would sell for and/or where they might be available, how about duplicates?

Bob, the whole site was down, now the forum is back up at its direct URL and the main Vintage Guitars site is back up.

Note the first topic in the Gibson section of the forum is about this same issue. I don't know why only the gibsonbass part is down but Jules is obviously aware of it.

Unfortunately I don't know where you can get a replacement other than watching eBay.

Better hope your cat doesn't read this and find out he's being blamed.  ;D

It's gotta be the cat, I wouldn't do anything so stupid as to forget where I put a TRC! ;D

There's a fellow who has all kinds of duplicates on eBay.  If you ask him, he might be able to make a custom one for you.

The mystery of the missing TRC has been solved, I had put it on top of a B-15S like I though and I found it today under the chassis between it and the cover. I had looked there before but it was hard to spot, still haven't found the screws but I'll find something that looks original I hope and yes I'm sure the cat did this or it could have even been my wife as she did one her "organizing".

Obviously, both cat and wife (you can't be too picky when instilling order)need swift punishing via an acoustic dose of the mighty mudbucker!

You can get the screws from any guitar shop (or Stew-Mac) - they're the same as Gibson uses now, but with less rust.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)

Yes, but he said it's not 100% done yet.

He hasn't said why he moved it. Maybe Gibson paid him millions for the name.  ;)

I hope so!

Jules gets a lot of money, Gibson starts a special bass site with history and nice new models. Everybody happy:)
