Wow, that is funky!  I can hear the surf music coming out of it already!!!   8)  I don't know anything about it, but it sure is unique.

I've seen those before. Output jack on the back! I like the purple. Seems like a killer price.

I tried one down in FL a while back...thickest 4-string neck I've ever seen.
They certainly are interesting looking.
There was a guy selling one on TB a month back for $80 (in prefect condition).  He hated it that much.

Sounds like the Alumitone pickups may be one of the most unusual features.  Perhaps people either like them or hate them.

If it was red, I might give it a test drive....but not in purple.  My friend is not color-sensitive.

I bought one of the first bolt ons.  Single pickup.  Wide neck/flat board.  Bridge didn't allow the action to go low enough for me without seriously filing the saddles.  Very nice pickup.  I returned the bass and bought one of the pickups.  Uwe has one of the through neck Helixes.

I like those pickups and it's strange no more brands use them. I saw some Lace-pickups of this type with Fender on it on the NAMM a year and a half ago...

I believe they are discussed before here?

Have one. It has warts (bridge base is slightly bent), but nothing that hampers playability. The phat neck is on a four string the same as on a five string, but what it taketh in hand comfort it giveth in sustain and thud a multitude of times, there is no free lunch. You wouldn't complain about (your own) man's best friend feeling too large in your hand either, right?

The bass gives amazing value for money IMHO.

The pups sound natural and balanced without sounding boring if that makes sense. Do they sound like no other? No, they just sound well with an unexpected amount of bass for a a passive set-up while retaining clarity and midrange. If you don't like the sound of these pups, you probably don't like how basses sound either, period.

I do like the shape, very Japanese. Reminds me of the Suzuki Katanas that took the motorcycle world by storm in the early eighties.

Even though, ironically, the Katana (Japanese for "sword") was actually a German design by Hans Muth showing that true old Axis Power love never dies!

I'm generally no friend of "flight deck" fretboards, but the Lace I dig out often enough because the bass is just fun to play. And the neck is not only wide, but also bulky which I prefer to wide and flat necks.

No one has mentioned anal sex yet

and, besides, that is a strictly Greek invention.
