My Gretsch
« on: October 09, 2010, 02:28:16 PM »
I bought this little Gretsch last June and it has had some technical difficulties. Twice now it has played perfectly at night and the next morning, nothing.....I had to take it in to GC about a month ago, a friend of mine is the tech, he said there was a loose connection....he fixed it and it played great until Thursday morning, same thing....nothing. So today I grab the bass and my warranty and go to GC.
The sales clerk called in my warranty to the main office and they wanted to talk to me, she double checked all my information and she said seeing this was the 2nd time in for the same problem, she wants  to reimburse me for the cost of the bass plus sales tax with a GC gift card and I get to keep the bass. She asked me if i was alright with that deal and i`m thinking free bass and I still have money to spend ...yeah, I`m alright with that.  I`m going to take the Gretsch into a local guitar shop and have it fixed.

I tried a 32" scale Ibanez ABG and was pleased with how it played and sounded. I think I will have to own one....

Update: It`s fixed and playing sweet again!  ;D

Talk about stepping up for you!  That place has earned your busiess!

I have that Gretsch and it's a fantastic bass.  I also have the same pickup in a Bronco bass.....that is one GREAT pickup!

 Just this week I was out-bid on a G-1112 Junior Jet II, the early Korean version with two of those PUPs, on evilBay.DE. I was really curious how that baby would sound but it was not to be .........  >:(

I never knew there was a 2-pickup model.
The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

I never knew there was a 2-pickup model.

The Junior Jet was made in Korea between 1999 & 2003 in both 1 & 2 PUP models ....... Believe the 1 PUP version went under G-1111 ......

Now you've done me the great favor of giving me GAS for a model I didn't know about before.

Arrrrrgh.

I bought it for my wife about 5 years ago when she wanted to learn to play, but she didn't, so it was collecting dust 'til my son was old enuff to mess around with it. It's on a stand in his room and he grabs it and bangs on it.
