Local dude claims "It's a 1972-1973 Marshall 2054 (or possibly 2054B), Picture Frame Cabinet, loaded with a vintage 15" 250w/8 ohms Celestion Powercel speaker" and wants C$900 for it (including a second spare drive unit) which seems fairish given rarity - especially of the drive units, at least here in NA - but I have no idea really. Too rich for my blood in any case and I have enough cabs, but I am very curious - anybody tried one of these ever? I'd never even heard of them before.

I can now.

It's kind of ugly but kind of Nice too. Have to re-read my Marshall amp book, can't remember seeing them.
-
It's definitely kinda cool, but the price seems pretty high for that.
-
He's dropped the price to 800 since posting. Also remember that's CA$ (so about US$590). I dunno if that's fair or not.
-
Idk, $590 doesn't seem that bad. I think it looks pretty sweet. I wonder if it's standard 4x12 dimensions, so you could add it to a stack. If it was closer to me, I'd probably snag it, especially since you get a spare speaker. Anyways, here's how it sounds with guitar and a JBL speaker.

That has to be a big cab if a 15" takes up that little of the total front area.
-
Since it's rear-mounted, that square of grille cloth is about 14". ... so the cab is around 26-30" wide by my estimation. The typical width of a 100w Marshall head is 29" so that makes sense given the picture of the stack there where they match nicely.
-
From the pic, it appears to be the same size as a standard Marshall 4x12, 29" x 29". Most likely it's a bit deeper though. I agree that $590US is not bad, but only by including the xtra speaker value. That seems like a somewhat fair price.
