Metallic Orange could be nice, indeed, but I also like the gunmetal grey-ish blue of the first pic.

Orange would be nice. That makes me think of the Duesenberg Star Bass which also has this color:

And orange:

Dave,
Just so you know anything he does is gonna cost a grand..........Mine were that and more.

I already have a grand into it now Mark, just for the neck work and rehab - the finish alone will cost over an additional grand with the metal flake RW&B....

How about a different Buck Owens paint scheme...?

I think this scheme would look great on a T-bird, but probably cost a bit more.

I like that last Buck Telecaster pic!

Well, I'm on with the red flake/silver flake/blue flake finish ala the Tele in the first post.  The question now is the headstock - It would look ok with a maple neck and unfinished head stock, and the r/w/b three stripe thing would be too busy for the head stock.  So its a solid color, or natural or....some kind of 1970's looking font just saying " 1976 "

Any thoughts?  This should be ready next month....  8)

I'd go with one of the three body colors as a solid color headstock.

I'd go with one of the three body colors as a solid color headstock.

I'm traditional enough that I would not only do that, I'd have to make sure it was the same color as the center piece on the body. It sounds like it's gonna look great!

I agree with whoever said the primer grey looks good. haha
It really does!

Mine's gloss black with black tuning pegs. |m|_ ^_^_|m|

Look at his latest post. He's already decided on the finish. He's asking about the headstock.

the flag motiff on anything but the flag looks too hee haw silly and  a bit redneck. imo.  toby keith?  i like solid colors  on most guitars, the stranger the better. back in the day, late 60's, you could metalflake a whole car for about 1500 bucks. :o

Thanks guys, I've been out of town for awhile.  I share nofi's concern - I didn't want this to be jingoistic "Hey I'm Toby Keith" kitsch.  (Buck could kick Toby's ass any day though!  )  Its kind of like getting a tattoo - well, more like taking your Mom in for a tattoo!  How could you do THAT to your Mother?

Proceeding with Silver flake headstock to match the center...lettering to be on afterward.  Should be ready this month me hopes.  In the meantime, here's a pic of the initial decapitation revealing the fefed-up truss rod.  (Sorry Uwe - hope this pic doesn't make you squeemish. )
