Maybe he just wanted to showcase the innovative "Tilt-O-Matic" bridge.
Earlier than what? The 50s originals didn't come with a hand rest. I didn''t notice in his prior auction, but that sure doesn't look like the rest that came with the reissues either.
The 68 version came with the wider chrome handrest over the Evertilt. Grog is right that you can still see that holes on either of the bridge.
