The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

Be fair, now. There just aren't enough P basses in the world, we need more. P body, RIC appointments, and topped off with a pointy headstock? Winner!

I saw that on Facebook yesterday and referred to it as "a disaster".  ;D Because it is...

I hate it. Having said that: It's a 500/600 dollar/euro bass. Cool for kids who can't afford a Rick.

I was thinking the same. Looks like some 12 year old who doesn't quite yet know a lot about basses drew a bass that he/she might like. It's also kind of amusing that there is now a Hipshot Ric bridge knock-off!

In that regard, the design goes with the pointy headstock. It all screams 80's to me.

They named it the Jackson® Bass Bacher IV String-Through-Body Hardtail.

I thought you were joking! Sadly, you were serious.

I noticed that, LOL! And yeah, the pointy headstock. I was so distracted by what's going on at the other end, I barely noticed.

I think those have been kicking around for a while, but not accepted entirely by the Rick community. Babicz has come up with a drop-in Ricky bridge that looks more interesting.

The Jackson sort of looks like a lockdown project from somebody on Talkbass or something. If it had 5 strings...

I do think that it would be good for a manufacturer to use some principles from the designs of Rickenbacker basses but without breaching any trademarks etc. People copy the look of 4003 basses but don't really try and decipher the tone. Jackson have sort of done this, but its a weird mix of generic, unorthodox and pointy '80s elements that came out the mix.

The Hipshot has been around for years, but this is the first copy of one that I've seen. Where Hipshot blew it was by not having the saddles in individual channels like their other bridges. Some suffer from "wobbly" saddles as a result. This one looks like it might be better in that area.

They named it the Jackson® Bass Bacher IV String-Through-Body Hardtail.

I saw that and thought that the strings were anchored on the back of the body and then went through the body.
But from the pictures you can clearly see the ball ends are visible on the back end of the tailpiece and not on the back of the body.

So, by "String-Through-Body Hardtail", do they mean strings goes through the body of the bridge instead of through the body of the bass?
