Radar Love

Saw this on YouTube. Nifty Ric with a horseshoe pickup AND a transparent guitar!

Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?

The Ric wasn't used on the recording. IIRC Rinus Gerritsen says it was an EB-3.

Yup, a beloved myth shattered. On his site he reveals that he recorded Moontan (the Radar Love album) as well as the follow-up with an EB-3.

http://www.goldenearring.nl/rinus/gear-basses.htm

Kind of like Martin Turner spilling the beans that he did not play the TBird but a Ric on Argus!   :-\  And Roger Glover never laid hands on the P Bass whose headstock features so prominently on Machine Head when recording that album, it was all done with a Ric.

That said, a Ric just looks better! And Radar Love would be a classic if he had played it with a toothbrush.

I bought a GE live LP way back when 'cause it had a cool "pic" of the Dano Longhorn(seen leaning against the amps in the above video) on the back. I've always loved those.
And having just got a new lucite bass it was cool seeing the old Ampeg lucite guitar in the vid.

Thought of you when I saw it!
There are other GE vids on YouTube in which he's playing the Longhorn. Pretty neat stuff, and almost the only vids I can find of anyone playing a longhorn other than Man...Or Astroman?

These are the songs/videos that got me into Longhorn Basses, and 6-string basses!

Don't know why there's 2 of each.

I still have their '74 tour shirt (with Skynyrd on the back - don't ask me why they were selling it on the Skynyrd '76 tour)

No arguing here.
The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

Especially on you, lanky looks, long hair + Ric, a match made in shamayim - even for lost souls like you!  ;)

The Bintangs' Frank Kraayeveld has murdered about 15 Longhorns during his career so far .........
