Gibson Basses / Re: '78 Gibson Grabber bridge problems

I didn't realize the OP was looking for saddle height screws.  In that case, these may work out a little better, even if they're a little shorter:

I'm looking for all the bridge screws actually  :)

@Uwe: maybe we can split one order of saddle height screws if you need them?

6 sets available

I'm going to try and set up a paypall account tonight, and then I'd like one set.

Thanks! Do you have any Idea what size of saddle screws were used?  I'm not really familiar with the imperial measurement system, but it seems I'll have to order outside of Europe.

Gibson Basses / '78 Gibson Grabber bridge problems
« on: April 13, 2014, 11:28:59 AM »
Since I'm at a loss at the moment, I'm asking all you Gibson guru's for some help.
I'm looking for some replacement parts for my '78 Grabber G1 bridge. Mainly all the saddle screws or complete new saddles.  I've been looking for a complete new bridge for a while, but a drop in replacement doesn't seem to exist.

The sizes of the screws and saddles don't seem to be standard sizes, which makes it even more difficult to find some replacements.

I'm not a big fan of drilling new holes in the bass (because I'm not sure of my own "skills"), so another bridge is not really an option.

Thanks!

I've bought the 5 string a while ago.  Been rehearsing with it for a few weeks now, and I must say I'm pretty impressed with this bass.  Nice punchy, smooth midrangey sound.  Don't know about the four string, but the neck on the fiver is flat, yet very wide. Eventhough you get kind of a flightdeckship-feel, it really plays very comfortably.

I think that in this pricerange, this might be one of the best fivers out there at the moment.

Europe update.  Key Music advise that Gibson Europe are quoting production difficulties in the US and are giving February 25th as the delivery date for the VS and (hold your breath) June '13 for the Pelham Blue.

Ho hum.
P

And yet I allready have mine from Key.

Very nice! Funny how different the blue ones look depending on the light.

Plus the fact that it's been through "hipstergram" on my phone.

Just checked the Key Music site.  Pelham Blue models in stock now.  Can't be long for my VS can it?
P

Shouldn't be too long now. I'm picking up my Pelham Blue one later today after work from Key.

I meant that they gave planetgaffnet "some sort of estimate of a possible delivery date if the planets align" .  I've allready payed an advance on the bass at keymusic, so I'll just have to wait.

I got an e-mail (from Key) yesterday saying end of January.  I do wonder how hard it can be to get these into Europe.
P

Atleast you got an estimated delivery date.  They just told me they honestly have no idea when they'll be in.

I've also ordered mine from Keymusic.  I've sent them an e-mail yesterday, but no reply yet.  In december I got an e-mail saying that they would be delivered somewhere around april, but their website still states the 10th of january as a delivery date.

I just got an e-mail from Key Music, Belgium (who I have my order with and also a guy called Kurt).  He's said that Gibson are discontinuing these models as soon as orders have been fulfilled.  Thomann have already said the model(s) have been discontinued.  Get one while you can kids!  :)
P

I've been thinking about ordering one with Key Music too, did you have to pay in advance (or just a part)?

I'm having a real hard time choosing between this and the NR Bird.  I want which ever I'll choose to match with my oversized Les Paul.  Do these pickups have the same incredible amount of output as the tb+ pickups?
